About Me
Welcome to Poppyfields! My name is Kerri and I have worked with children for the past 15 years. I have been a childminder for over 3 years and received Ofsted 'Outstanding' in September 2024. I was also awarded Nursery World's 'Childminder of the Year 2024' award for the whole of the UK! I am a qualified teacher and taught reception for a number of years.
I am passionate about the early years, specifically learning through play and filling every day with awe and wonder! I believe every child is unique and this creates my curriculum, which is tailored to every individual child. Poppyfields is a home from home environment where children can feel safe and happy. I believe strong trusting relationships are key! I work closely with parents, updating parents via Whatsapp with photos and written observations, sharing assessments and supporting parents wherever I can!
At Poppyfields, every day is different! I plan in the moment following the children's interests and next steps. I love the outdoors and we spend as much time outside as possible, teaching a love of nature. We spend our days at the zoo, library, beach, forest, park, care home, toddler groups and so much more! @poppyfieldstlc
My Experience
After completing my degree I knew I wanted to be a primary school teacher and went on to complete my SCITT training. I have ten years teaching experience and I hold a national award in special educational needs, working as a SENCo across two primary schools for a number of years.
More recently, whilst childminding, I have worked for the Department for Education mentoring other childminders, I won 'Nursery World's Childminder of the Year' Award in 2024 and have been featured in the Nursery World Magazine twice!
I am constantly updating my knowledge and continuing my learning and development including training courses on child development, speech and language, autism, oral health and much more!

Kerri has been looking after my children since they were each about 10 months old (now 3.5 and 1.5) She is the most wonderful childminder, both children absolutely adore her and we feel very lucky to have found her.
They always do lovely activities and fun trips out, the setting and provision is fantastic and Kerri really understands and nurtures their interests. It is never easy leaving your child, but with Kerri, we have found someone we wholeheartedly trust, and who genuinely cares for, and about, our children. We cannot recommend her highly enough.
