My Summary

My Experience

I primarily work with children who have Autism. This experience has allowed me to understand the very ways by which these individuals live in tandem with their disabilities and how differently it can impact each of them and their everyday lives. Moving forward, I think it’s imperative to support and empower these individuals so that they can recognise their own strengths and abilities. I also have a great understanding that physical disabilities or impairments can have a tremendous impact on one’s mental health, which in turn, can greatly impact the lives of these people. With education, and advanced understanding, children with disabilities are continuing to thrive with the use of appropriate strategies. Prior to working in this sector, I worked as a support worker in residential care. It was here that I developed my initial awareness and understanding for a variety of disabilities and behavioural challenges.

I knew I wanted to act as an independent, responsible individual, so I applied to be an au pair for an incredible family in the southeast of Kent on a temporary three-month basis. As it transpired, three months quickly turned into a year, and a year turned into present day, where I am still living and working with the same family. Over the course of almost three years.

My Qualifications

No qualifications in childcare, my educational background is in marketing and events ! I’ve studied and have a passion for the creative forward thinking the marketing industry offers.
Looking ahead, I would like to pursue a professional career in ABA/SEMH, getting to work with children with additional educational needs, challenging behaviours and/or social emotional mental health needs in an SEN setting.
