My name is Miriam :) I am a first year PhD student at the University of Manchester. I am a friendly, chatty and helpful individual with 12 years experience baby sitting!
I come from a family of 6, so you could say I've got babysitting in my blood. I believe in patience, kindness, and learning. There is always a kind and calm way to approach a situation or behaviour that challenges. Fun and laughter are also key for everyday living, learning about the things we like to do and growing as individuals is not something that I believe stops at adulthood, but continues across our life course.
My Experience
I have been formally babysitting since the age of 14, when I set up a formal business in my local area.
I have since worked with young children aged 5 - 10 who have various physical and communication impairments. I was a child mentor for a charity called TRIANGLE for over 7 years. This means I am trained in dealing with behaviour that challenges.
My Qualifications
BSc Sociology, MSc Sociological research, Behaviour that challenges (High Speed Training), Advanced safeguarding level 2 (High Speed Training), First aid and Fire Marshall Training (UoM)

I am quite flexible with my availability due to my research position, this includes short notice
