Hi!
I’m Abbie and I will be moving to Edinburgh in August to study Gaelic medium primary teaching at Edinburgh Uni. At the moment I work full time as an outdoor nursery teacher in the North West Highlands. I am creative, enthusiastic and have a passion for learning about how children best learn, grow and manage their emotions individually. I enjoy focusing on and nurturing children’s passions as well as giving them a well rounded experience of activities such as baking/cooking, painting and crafts and getting outdoors as much as possible.
My Experience
I have had a large amount of experience working with children over a number of years. As an auntie of 6 I have watched them all grow up and I have witnessed the less glamorous side of parenting. As a nursery teacher, I spend no less than 30 hours a week teaching, helping and caring for children and have gained many skills that can only be obtained by working so closely and consistently with children.
My Qualifications
Despite not yet having my teaching degree, I am qualified in Child first aid, Safeguarding, epipen use and, as of May, I will have completed my Makaton course (speech aided sign for children with additional needs.) Furthermore, I am a straight A student and graduate of Sgoil chiùil na Gàidhealtachd (the National Centre of Excellence in traditional music) where I attended high school. **REGISTERED CHILDMINDER application in process**
My Availability
I will be available for after school/nursery babysitting/nannying Monday - Friday from 3pm onwards.
I am happy to do pick up from school, although I will not have my own car with me. I will gladly cook dinner and I am also able to cater to any dietary needs/ fussy kids! I will be away for one week, twice throughout the year for my placement but I am happy to recommend/ provide someone else to cover for my absence.
