My Summary
About Me
I am an enthusiastic, organised and hard-working individual who is passionate about teaching. I am very proud of my route into teaching which has now spanned over fifteen years. I had always known I wanted to work with children and began my career as a childminder. I then decided I wanted to expand my knowledge of teaching within a formal setting so applied for a job as a TA at a local primary school. After two years, I was promoted to HLTA, which allowed me my first experience of acquiring a work-based qualification, something I learned I greatly enjoyed.
This acquisition of knowledge coupled with the class-based training I was receiving by covering classes full time cemented the determination within me to complete my degree and teacher training qualification. Over the years, I have developed a positive, dynamic and enthusiastic style of teaching. I believe wholeheartedly in giving children a voice and am constantly searching for new and improved methods of instilling them with the confidence and resilience they need to become independent and successful learners.
My practice would be a place of safety and sanctuary where children would feel encouraged, nurtured and empowered. It would be a vocabulary-rich space that promotes a love of reading and inspires learning, continually striving to narrow the vocabulary gap that affects so many children. Wherever possible, I will favour a child-centric model of teaching that limits teacher talk allowing for problem-solving, reasoning and communicative skills to flourish.
My Experience
Childminding and teaching has allowed me to effectively communicate with a broad range of parents and children. I listen to the needs of each child and I regularly engage with the parents to ensure that goals are set and specific gaps in education are closed.
My lessons are fun and engaging and I actively encourage children to feel confident in their abilities and skills. I motivate children to become resilient and indepedent learners. In my fifteen years of experience, I have worked with children with special educational needs.
I currently work as a primary school teacher in Ashford, Kent and have experience across KS1 & KS2.
