My Summary
About Me
I am an early educator with Koru Kids. I run my home nursery with the agency to support myself and parents/carers of my little ones. Billing and yearly Ofsted checks are provided by Koru Kids giving everyone peace of mind and giving me more time to focus on the most important thing, your child’s day!
Every day is packed with adventure and giggles for under 5s at my home nursery in Roehampton. I support children’s growth and development through messy play, outdoor learning, and following the Early Years Foundation Stage. I care for a maximum of 3 children at once, so I am able to give lots of individual attention to each child but they always have companions to play with.
We get out and about every day – I don’t believe in confining children to a single learning space. We spend each morning outdoors — whether that’s singing songs as we walk through Richmond Park or counting the sticks we see in Putney and Wimbledon Commons. We often tell stories about things we see and build dens with different twigs and rocks.
Research confirms what all parents know instinctively – that children who spend lots of time outdoors are healthier, better behaved, physically stronger and sleep better at night. Natural settings provide untold opportunities for learning. As we’re exploring the outdoors my children are learning new vocabulary of the natural world.
I always ensure I have sensory activities that will interest and inspire each child. We will often bring home treasures from our adventures and tie them into our afternoon activities. One of our favourites is using the leaves we collect during our outdoor time to make beautiful, colourful prints.
I never shy away from messy play and make sure each child is engaged and learning. We always make time in the afternoon for storytime — our current favourite book is ‘The Snail and The Whale’. We love to curl up in our cosy reading corner to explore different worlds through books and stories, letting our imagination flourish and learning some important lessons along the way!
I plan activities specifically around the development milestones of the early years age group, closely following the 'Early Years Foundation Stage' or 'EYFS'. This is the same structure traditional nurseries follow. Being in such a small group means I will get to know your child inside out and upside down.
We love eating exciting and colourful meals! Whether it’s a tasty homemade pie or veggie sticks, we eat the rainbow at my home nursery. I provide a home cooked lunch and tea every day and a snack in the morning whilst we’re out on adventures. I’m fully trained in food hygiene and preparing food safely (including for children with allergies and religious restrictions).
Children eat as a family around the table. Younger children are kept safe under my watchful eye or fed until they've picked up cutlery skills from the others.
We always have our main sleep of the day back at home after our fun, outdoor adventures so that the little ones can have a nap in a calm and quiet environment. They will sleep in my bedroom so they are separate from the main play space.
The room is spacious and has room for cots for the little ones and mats for the older children. I often gently pat and rock the children back and forth while listening to some soothing music to help them relax and peacefully nod off to sleep. I can ensure your home routine is continued when your child enters my home nursery.
Younger children may need to take a short buggy nap in the morning while we are out, as part of their established routine. As your child reaches 18 months I will work with you to gently adjust their routine, so they can enjoy the full morning’s adventure out and about followed by a long and restorative sleep after lunch.
