About Me
Hi, my name is Thea, I am 50 years old, and I live in
Shilton Park in Carterton, in a mid terrace house with a small back garden. I am a friendly and enthusiastic childcarer.
I have been involved with looking after children in some form for most of my adult life and have considerable experience gained over more than 25 years working as a nanny and nursery nurse.
I have always loved children and spend as much time as I can with my 2 nephews who live nearby, aged 12 and 15 years.
I have no children of my own so that means I can be more flexible than some nannies with the hours that I can care for your child. About
3 years ago I was a childminder looking after 6 school children but have looked after children of all ages. Whilst childminding I liked to keep the children that I looked after occupied by taking them regularly to a childminders' group at the local Community Centre to allow them to play (under supervision) with other children and I also took them on frequent trips to the outdoor play areas in Shilton Park, where I played all sorts of games with them! We also regularly visited the local library.
I have a small back garden which had outdoor toys such as a coupe cars, water play and climbing frames. I also have an area which the children helped me plant up with all kinds of flowers!
I liked to keep my setting clean and children learn and have fun whilst in my safe and secure home from home environment. So I am used to housekeeping and cleaning up after children! I have also volunteered in children’s groups.

My Experience
I am N.N.E.B. trained with excellent references available . I am first aid trained and DBS checked. I also have recently qualified with the CACHE level 3 Award in Home Based Childcare. This was awarded to me by PACEY (The Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years).
I opened as a childminder in January 2017 but closed in July 2020 to become a care assistant. I really missed looking after children so I decided to become a childcarer instead.
Routine
I ensured that I planned each week in advance so that the children had a varied routine and the parents knew what to expect and could have an input into this.
I also feel that being in a good routine with the children is important as it helps them to know what happens next, especially the younger children who have no concept of time. I planned activities according to each child’s interests and next steps, in conjunction with each child’s parents.
Food
I tried to plan and prepare fresh and healthy snacks for the children that I looked after.
I can be flexible to suit you and take into account any allergies, likes and dislikes your child may have. Drinks and healthy snacks were included in my fees.
I believe the individual needs of each child are paramount. I love watching them grow and develop and learn new skills as they soak up all that new knowledge that they have gained.
If I was to look after your child you can be assured that he/she will be treated as if he/she was my own child and cared for as such. I would really like your child to feel safe, comfortable and happy and clean and secure whilst I am caring for him/her.

N.N.E.B. from Chiltern Nursery Training College.
Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
