Still open to connect with likeminded families, ready to explore the Montessori learning experience.
An experienced, compassionate, creative, adventurous and nurturing individual with over 5 years’ experience working with children and families; both as a Nanny, and as an Early Years Practitioner. Qualification of Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) and implement Montessori teaching and values at home.
I incorporate a Montessori approach when caring for children. Children should be given the freedom to learn at their own pace, make their own choices and learn from their mistakes. I provide children the opportunity to foster their independence, for example, providing choices throughout their day, and involving them in cookery to help prepare their meals. Also, I encourage them to take lead in their play, inspiring them with new knowledge and ideas. I enjoy setting up creative inspiring spaces that supports their needs and interests. This includes:
Holistic health: mindfulness (woodland exploration, sensory activities) which supports children's personal, social and emotional development (PSED). Using positive language, successfully reinforces children to learn and understand: boundaries, expectations and consequences. Alongside this, we can encourage them to express themselves, giving them time, space and respect, which will support their decision making and communication. Moreover, physical health (build on their self awareness and healthy food activities), and physical activities (risk-taking opportunities, indoor and outdoor learning, and integrate physical activities into everyday life) are all healthy for a child to flourish.
Self expression: makaton, arts and crafts (I focus on the process rather than the product/ end result), phonics (Doodle Dance, rich language environment), and expressive arts (music/nursery rhymes and dance).
Community: environmentalism/ forest school learning (feeding the ducks, gardening, reusing materials for play setups, exploring nature and spending time outdoors), community trips (supporting local events/ classes/parks), and learning about diversity and different cultures (celebrating traditional/ cultural events, i,e play setup/ attending events and cookery).
Cookery is also an activity that I enjoy planning with children. It is creative, and supports a wide range of developmental skills for their future. Supporting and encouraging children to prepare their own snack/ meals supports their fine motor skills, sense of achievement, and confidence. Making carrot cake, pitta pizzas, ice lollies and peeling fruit has really been a memorable rewarding experience for the children and myself too.
My Experience
My superpowers: creativity, cookery, nurturing and being imaginative.
My role as a Nanny, I have provided childcare for one or more children, including infants (<1). My recent role includes looking after a 18 months old (b), who I have cared for since he was 10 months old. Before this role, I looked after a 30 months old (b), who I have also cared for since he was 10 months old. Outside my role as a Nanny, I have also provided babysitting services to several families.
From this, I have built positive relationships with these families, and still keep in contact via babysitting.
My main responsibilities include, supporting care routines (promoting independence), spontaneous to planned outings (I support local community events and seasonal events), and arranging play dates. I enjoy creating play spaces in alignment with the child’s interest and development, extending and reinforcing learning through play.
Before my role as a Nanny, my early interest in children blossomed from working at a Montessori nursery as a full time Early Years Practitioner and as a Room Leader. For over 2 years, my main responsibilities in a nursery setting includes: ensuring each child reaches their full potential, by following a curriculum that is equally unique and bespoke to each child. This is supported by enriched, challenging, and developmental experiences. Additionally, building positive relationships with parents/carers, looking after children's physical health, and being mindful of safeguarding and health and safety guidelines. My experience is predominately based on working with babies and toddlers. However, I have also supported children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and reception aged children with phonics and maths in a primary school as part of my Early Years lTeacher training placement.
Expectations:
- Dedication to work in partnership with parents/carers; to communicate openly about their child's development and explore ways to support learning at home
- Open to parents/carers who are curious about Montessori parenting and education/values
Testimonials
Child A, Nanny (Part time/Full time) + Babysitting (Nov 2021- Jan 2024)
- Natalie is amazing with children, a pleasure to have her in our home. My son and my whole family love her. She is full of energy and life, and has gone over and above; designing activities for child A according to his interest and development.
Child T, Nanny (Part time) + ad-hoc babysitting (Mar 2022- Dec 2023)
- Natalie is a passionate carer and educator who went above and beyond for nearly 2 years that she cared for our child. As a Montessori practitioner, she took careful note of our child's interests and developmental stages, providing materials to support his growth. She did this with laughter and warmth, offering hugs and cheers of encouragement. Any child who spends time with Natalie is very lucky and will remember her for years to come.
Child S, Ad hoc Nanny + Babysitting (Sept 2021- 2024)
-We absolutely love working with Natalie. She has an incredible bond with our daughter, who simply adores her. Natalie has a warm, patient, and nurturing nature that truly resonates with children. She excels at engaging our daughter through imaginative role play, sensory activities, and fosters her independence with care and safety. One of the most remarkable things about Natalie is her ability to get our little one to sleep earlier than we ever can—no small feat!
Natalie has been with our daughter since she was just 6 months old (she’s now 2 and a half), and it’s clear how strong their connection is. Our daughter talks about her constantly, even after long stretches without seeing her. It’s always a delight for us to see Natalie and I can’t recommend her enough.
Early Years Practitioner (Full-time), (Sept 2019- Aug 2021)
- Thank you for setting a great example for the team with the amazing activities in baby room. I have been blown away by your contributions. You come up with fantastic engaging ideas, and have a mind for details, taking into consideration children's personalities, likes and dislikes. You perform well under pressure and bring so much positivity to your work. The way you speak to children is inspiring.
