My Summary
About Me
My setting is called Little Bones Childcare. I practise the Montessori method alongside implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage. The Montessori method is a child-led teaching method that puts children into a prepared learning environment where children can freely choose the activities they want to do to. The idea is that this allows children to make their own choices, learn and develop at their own pace to build confidence, independence and self-esteem and to create a foundation for life-long learning. With a range of activities and resources available to them, children have the opportunity to engage with the activity of their choice and each other for as long as they like rather than having a set timetable for the day. .As a child is finished with a particular activity, they are taught to take responsibility and put it back in its place before moving on.
As a mother I understand how hard and traumatic it can be to leave your baby or child with a childcare provider to return to work. I understand the anxiety that a parent feels as I had the same anxieties myself when I begun to think about returning to work. This is one of the reasons I chose to be a child minder. I want to reassure parents and families about their decision and to provide a safe, fun and stimulating environment for their children whilst being able to be at home with my own child too. I have three children, however my eldest two have grown up and left home and living their own lives and my youngest is 1 years old.
I am responsible and trustworthy. I am caring and good at relating to the individuals within my care. I am calm and efficient in emergencies. These qualities I have evidenced in the various roles I have held within the Health and Social Care sector in supportive roles and also managerial posts as a service manager.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework to enable your little ones to thrive and grow through fun and play in a home from home environment.
I offer affordable and reliable childcare in a comfortable and familiar home setting. I provide a stimulating environment with a wide variety of fun and educational activities to support the EYFS. I prepare home cooked, tasty and healthy meals and snacks. I have a large open plan downstairs area, a fully stocked playroom with a comfy corner with books and enclosed garden which houses a sand station, a water station and a mud kitchen. I live within a 5 minute walk of 3 different play parks which I take full advantage of daily.
I offer Early Years funding places for 2, 3, and 4 year olds. I can provide school drop off and pick ups for Whitehouse Community Primary School and for the local nurseries in this area. I provide care for children aged 1-8 year olds
I have uploaded all the relevant documents and certificates to this site, however it appears it takes a rather long time for them to show on the profiles. All documents and certificates are available to view on request when coming for an initial visit to the setting.
My Experience
I am a mum to 3 boys. My eldest is 24 years old, my middle son is 17 years old and my youngest is 1 years old so I have a broad range of experience in raising children. My past work experience has been with vulnerable adults and children with learning disabilities and adults with dementia. I have been a childminder for the past few years and enable your little ones to thrive and grow through fun and play in a home from home environment.
My Qualifications
I hold a BSc in Psychology and am fully trained in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children, Child Protection, Encouraging Positive Behaviour, Food Safety and Food Hygiene and Understanding Children and Young Person’s Mental Health. I also hold a Early Years Foundation Stage qualification. All certificates are available to view on request when visiting the setting
