I am supportive, patient, kind and have a passion for caring for children and would love to have the opportunity to be able to support the children and their families.
I have a natural affinity with children and I feel that they are drawn to me. It is important for me to make a child feel comfortable, safe and supported under my care as I want the children to be able to have trust in me to look after them and their needs and be able to come to me if they need anything.
My Experience
I have always been interested in working with children and I have really enjoyed babysitting in the past for a family with three children between the ages 1-13. I supported the children with homework and daily activities to support their development. I also prepared the children meals throughout the day and prepared them for bed by supporting them to brush their teeth, change into their nightwear and have some downtime before they had to go to sleep.
I have done work experience in a nursery and had been able to explore my interest of supporting children further. It was interesting to see all the children’s different personalities and I enjoyed interacting with them and watching their imaginations grow. The children would come to me if they were upset and trusted me to support them and/or comfort them. I have proven to myself that I am able to adapt and be flexible with situations and allowed me to practice good time management skills.
Having this experience has shown me that working with children is not all sunshines and rainbows. Just like us adults, the children will have bad days where they don’t want to engage in activities or they haven’t slept very well so are tired and may not be up for a busy day and that’s okay I am able to adapt and support their needs to ensure they are not getting overwhelmed by other daily tasks that may need to be done during the day.
My Qualifications
I have a valid DBS and I have my Level 2 in Health and Social Care and Level 2 in Early Years
