About Me
Hi, I'm Corinne! A tutor for children with additional needs. I'm focused on building children's confidence, emotional wellbeing and love of learning. I have many years of experience supporting children's learning and social and emotional development both within classroom and home settings. I'm currently studying a Level 2 in Counselling Skills and I hold a first class Art History and English Literature degree.
My Experience
My experience working as 1:1 support for children with additional needs such as Autism and ADHD has equipped me with an emphatic understanding of neurodiversity, children's mental health and the importance of teaching age-appropriate coping skills. Whilst working alongside SENCO's in schools, I've created personalised timetables for children which adapt the curriculum to their academic needs by engaging their interests. I want to help parents access the right educational support for their child both in and outside of the classroom.
My experience includes helping primary school aged children with phonics, reading and comprehension, arithmetic, speech and language. My priority is always a child's self-esteem, and turning their innate curiosity into love for learning.
I've also worked with babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers and I'm passionate about a Montessori-style approach, as well as other child-led forms of Early Years learning.
My Qualifications
• DBS checked
• Paediatric first aid trained
• Full, clean drivers license
• SEN and Neurodiversity experience, particularly with Autism, ADHD and global delay
• Extensive safeguarding experience
• Knowledge of the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 curriculum
• Previous training in positive behaviour management, Thrive Approach, Speech and Language and Lego Therapy
• Practical experience using Numicon for maths, Read Write Inc. for phonics, Colourful Semantics for writing and Clever Fingers for motor skills development
• First class degree in Art History and English Literature from The University of Kent
• Currently pursuing a Level 2 in Counselling Skills with Kent Adult Education in Maidstone
