My Summary
About Me
I'm Mandy and I moved to Perth recently with my partner and daughter.
I am an active person and have a love for skiing from my seasons as a nanny in the Alps. I have always enjoyed being active especially dancing as well as being creative too.
I enjoy being outdoors and hiking and look forward to completing more Munros around Scotland.
I have been working as a travelling nanny and in nurseries for the last few years and I am taking a break to have my own family.
My Experience
I have 20 years of experience of working with children from the ages of 3 months-18 years, in a wide variety of settings within education and childcare. I have a PGDE in primary education and I have a Maternity nanny level 4 qualification.
I have a calm and patient nature but also an enthusiasm for learning and love sharing this with children. With my intuition and knowledge of child development, I use my teaching skills to create activities that are age and stage appropriate for the children in my care.
I take a firm but fair approach to working with children as it is important that they have boundaries which keep them safe but still give them freedom to learn to manage risk and develop an understanding of the world around them. I encourage children to explore their own interests and support them in becoming independent learners.
Most of my nannying experience is from travelling or seasonal employment and it has given me a wealth of experience and has involved getting to the know the children swiftly and tailoring the holiday to them. I am flexible and responsive to the children as well as the family’s needs to ensure they all have a memorable holiday. I often making the most of the outdoor environment this has included play park outings, ball games, forest walks and playing in the snow or creating sandcastles, and water play. I know the importance of different types of play in supporting children in all aspects of their development and learning and when travelling take a variety of activities that can promote different aspects of learning and research the area so that I know about other resources too.
