About Me
Hi parents and guardians! My name is Suraya. I am a passionate and motivated childcare provider who has been working with/caring for children since I was a child myself. I am a big sister to three younger siblings and the oldest cousin out of 8 others (youngest just turning 2). As someone who is family oriented and who matured quickly at a young age, I held much of the responsibility of taking care of my little family members - which fostered my love for working with children. I pursued a dual degree in psychology and criminology where much of my focus in university revolved around child and adolescent development. With my background in these subjects, I have understanding on the developmental milestones of children of different ages as well as attachment styles, and thus, I am able to adjust my care accordingly. I have experience working in schools and homes with children aging from 0 months to 15 years old, so I have a wide range of knowledge in terms of the support I'm able to provide. I am maternity nurse certified, and hold an NVQ Level 3 certification in early years education. I achieved this with distinction at a Montessori nursery, so I developed a great understanding of learning through play! I am bubbly, positive, and fun. I love to go on adventures to the museum, the park, but I am also a pro at "working with what we've got at home", so I can get really creative with activities and ideas both educational or just for fun! I am happy to schedule a Teams or in-person interview with parents/guardians prior to jumping into childcare, in hopes to get to know each other better as well as get information on your parenting style. It'll also be beneficial to have a chaperoned visit with the children, so I can get to know them a little more as well as ensure that they choose me as well!
My Experience
I have worked within homes caring for children from 2010-2018 consistently with 5 different families, as well as nannying work with 3 other families from 2018-now. During this time, I also volunteered to teach subjects such as Mathematics and English to children in urban areas in the United States. From 2018-2021, I studied in University and took on the role of teaching assistant for two years. At the beginning of 2022, I worked in a school as a 1-1 teaching assistant for a 5 year old boy with special needs as well as taking on responsibilities working with children from reception to year 3. I worked in a second school as a cover supervisor working with years 3-6 and spending time working with the 2-4 year olds down in the nursery. From Jan 2023- August 2024, I’ve worked in a Montessori nursery. I was promoted to Room Manager of the toddler room and loved taking on such a lead role in all my children’s development. However, during my time at the nursery, I have worked with babies from 5 months to 5 years. Following this, I did a temporary nanny role in the USA, for an infant while mum started a new training course in nursing!! I am a qualified maternity nurse with previous nannying/babysitting experience with newborns and young children. I am confident in my abilities to work well with children and foster their personal/academic growth especially since my previous experience has included working with a vast array of ages with varying degrees of behavioural capabilities and special needs. Furthermore, I have independently studied nutrition, cooking, and health (have my L2 food safet), so I am happy to provide nutritious meals/prep fun fitness activities in addition to your childcare needs.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour
- Nannying from £20.00 per hour (gross)
I do have base rate fees set here due to my experience, qualifications, and cost of living. However, these rates do depend on the needs of the family and are open to change depending on the role.
