About Me

I have 3 children, currently almost 14yrs, 11.5yrs and 6.5yrs. We are a neurodiverse household and follow a very low demand, positive style approach to parenting. We use a lot of declarative language and cooperative problem solving. All 3 are diagnosed autistic. The11yr old is also diagnosed with a PDA (Pathological demand avoidance) profile and ADHD. We suspect the 6.5yr old has a similar profile to this. Hence the low demand approach being very important. This means our parenting style and way the house works will certainly not be suited to everyone. We are keen to find the right person who can adapt to our family way of doing things and fit in.

The eldest has been out of school for 5 years due to Emotional Based School Refusal which then resulted in us deregistering her. She is officially home educated and has significant school-based trauma and anxiety. The Middle one was also deregistered when we saw the same thing happening but is now on an EOTAS (Education Other Than At School) package from the LA through her EHCP. The youngest was due to start school September 2022 but is now officially home educated as well as we didn't want to enter the same road as the other two.

My Requirements

Part Time Nanny
Special Needs Experience

Both our 11yr old and 6yr old attend a provision 2 days a week. Our 11yr old also has a mentor for a number of hours a week through her EOTAS package, she also needs taking to some of her therapy appointments, such as equine therapy and music therapy. The youngest is a whirlwind and you can't really take your eyes off her as she flits from one thing to another and needs constant entertainment. The oldest likes much calmer things and quiet. This makes for a little bit of a crazy mix sometimes and trying to fulfil everyone's needs is very tricky. My husband works long hours and often weekends so the vast majority of looking after the house and children falls to me.

I'm looking for a nanny to come in and help with our 6yr old so i have some time available for the older two as well as working with the older ones on more independance skills. At the moment my 70+yr old mum is often my second adult and home help but this is not fair on her and can not go on longer term. Ideally someone who might be able to on occasion come on day out trips with us too - such as theme parks or country parks as i can't take all 3 alone safely. The youngest is a bundle of joy and energy and everyone who meets her falls in love with her and says how amazing she is. She just needs 121 attention.

We are looking for someone with experience of SEN and who can fit into our household as they maybe working with me some of the time if we go places with the 6yr old and one of the older two. So we are hoping to find someone who will be able to stay with us longer term rather than a few months as all the children take longer than most children to feel comfortable with new adults. Hours can be flexible and chatted about to suit everyone but are likely to be towards the mid to end of week/weekend as the younger two attend the alternative provision on a Mon/Tues. We are probably looking for around 10hours a week over two days (flexibility out of Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun ideally).
