My Summary

My Experience

As an individual with lots of energy who loves spending time around children of all ages, I have found tutoring and looking after children some of my most fulfilling work experiences in that I was able to develop a working relationship with the children over time. Some of my most insightful experiences looking after children include the below:

- Thailand Volunteering: My volunteering experience at a primary school for underprivileged and disabled children in a rural region of Thailand, Tha Ton for 2 months allowed me to enhance key skills such as organisation, patience, responsibility and compassion. Whilst I was presented with the challenge of not being able to speak Thai, my experience proved to be rewarding, as well as insightful into their culture.

- Assistant Netball Coach at Let’s Play Netball (2017-2019): My position involved leading warm ups, running drills and umpiring matches for children aged 7 to 14 in groups of 15+, which has developed my ability to plan activities, manage and motivate groups. This job helped me understand how to interact and encourage various age groups to not only develop their netball skills, but to communicate and work as a team.

- Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA): My involvement in CSLA required me to plan before and after school sports training for children aged 11-16 weekly in groups of 15. This session was run for children who tended to be shy in standard PE lessons in class so it was exciting and enriching to watch them grow more confident in various sports and in themselves throughout the 2 years. Running these sessions enabled me to develop my communication and leadership skills that were required to organise and encourage sporting events for large groups of people.

- Babysitting: I have babysat for children in my local neighbourhood aged between 3 to 15 weekly. This involved picking them up from school, cooking them meals, aiding with homework and putting them to bed.
