About Me
Hiya I am Carla, affectionately known as Curly Carla or as Mother/Marg/Madre to three successful adult children (as I call them!) Two sons who are 22 and 21 years old, and our 19 year-old daughter. I have been married for 20 fabulous years to Craig. I am 44 and currently in the process of moving to the South of the UK around the Dorset/Somerset area.
I am a live out nanny for numerous families, covering some permanent days, adhoc care, babysitting and emergency care plus full weekends as and when needed.
As a self-employed nanny (under my business - Curly Tots Nanny Service), I would be able to fit into your family in whichever way was needed - for example with newborn support or as your live-out nanny in the day.
My contracts can be short term, long term or adhoc, while in Derbyshire I have been working with around 15 families as you will see listed below, I developed a strong working relationship with these lovely families so the move is slightly tinged with sadness as I leave these behind but I am looking forward to working with lots of new families in Dorset/Somerset.
I also offer help with planning for a new arrival, I have a wealth of knowledge on nursery planning and organisation. Making sure you are well prepared for the new arrival and advising on equipment and products so that you have everything you need.
I can offer evenings and I am available overnight, or if you need childcare on holiday this could be an option too. I have a wealth of experience with all age groups.
As you will see below, I have many strings to my bow! You will find me a very patient, organised but fun, trustworthy person.

My Experience
I have 22 years experience in raising my own children, which I believe is the best experience to develop my skills as a nanny!
Suffering from Sleep deprivation?, recovering from a c-section and struggling with feeding with family living away are just a few areas I can relate to given my experiences as a mother.
I have been trained in Breastfeeding and formula feeding by an infant feeding specialist, and I worked with new mums on our local antenatal ward for 6 months. For many years I have helped friends with newborns, providing the advice and support they needed in the early days, weeks and months.
I have first-hand experience with Coeliac disease, trained in using an EpiPen and allergy awareness with nuts, peanuts and soya/milk allergies. Over 12 years pharmacy experience within the NHS and over the counter medicine trained.
I ran a successful Baby and Toddler Group for 7 and a half years every Tuesday in the local village. I have been a Scout Beaver leader for 2 years running successful Beaver camps on many occasions which was very enjoyable.
For two years I was a Playleader at the local infants school before I took up post as the Receptionist in the school, and also cross covered at the Junior school too.
I was a PTA member for over 10 years organising events and one of the best memories was a whole school sleepover to raise funds for the junior school!
Furthermore, I acted as a Chaperone at the local theatre supporting dance shows and multiple productions over 7 years - and I still do this on the odd occasion if extra help is needed.

2024 - (June) - September 2024 - 1 year old boy adhoc care full days / babysitting
2024 - (June) - present day - 8 month old Twins adhoc care (been with them since they where 8 weeks old)
2024 - (February) - present day - Adhoc care Baby boy since he was 4 months old now 13mths
2024 - (January) - present day - Adhoc Babysitting for twin girls age 6 and boy age 8
2023 (November) -July 2024 - 1 year old Twin Boys and 5 year old girl
2023 (May) - present day - 1 year old boy adhoc care / full days / babysitting
2023 (October) - present day - 1 year old baby girl and five year old girl adhoc care full days / adhoc babysitting (evenings)
2023 (July) - Full day & Overnight, adhoc care for one year old boy and 5 week baby girl / 2024 (August) full day and evening boy now 2 years old and little girl 1 years old
2023 (March) – August 2023 – one year old boy and newborn baby boy (May 2023) worked 3 full days a week. Family moved to Ireland.
2023 – present day – Babysitting 3 year old boy and five year old girl adhoc care usually once a month.
2023 – present day – Babysitting one year old girl and two year old boy
2021 - August 2023 – adhoc care of a one year old girl (from birth), her six year old sister, and twin boys aged ten, overnight stays or full weekends.
2017- present day - Full days adhoc a few times year - five year old boy and 6 month old brother
2016 - present day - Babysitting Two boys aged eight and ten, and their one year old sister.
I am the person to go to for childcare advice re: routines/organisation with playrooms, potty training, costumes for dress up days at school, and responding to changes in behaviour.

Carla has been with us since June 2024 and has already been a fabulous addition to the team. She is organised, thorough, fair, kind and has an abundance of ideas for the children's activities. She is always on time - in fact, she is often early which is a blessing for my husband and I with respect to us getting to work. She has a no nonsense approach with the children but does it with kindness and fun. She has adapted to our somewhat chaotic lifestyle, bringing order and calm which is much needed! She has responded to the different needs and requirements for both our children. We are delighted she has joined us and hope she will stay with us for an indeterminate period.

Carla came to work for us and our 8 week old twins and does adhoc work throughout the week/ evenings and weekends. She has been super accommodating, coming last minute if we have needed to catch a nap/ staying later at last minute to assisting me at work with the twins as I am breastfeeding. She has very quickly slotted into our family and could not be more helpful. She instantly makes me feel calm and is excellent with the twins, playing with them, singing, talking to them and taking them on pram walks. Carla is very reliable, friendly, organised, kind, bubbly and extremely hard working. We always look forward to her coming and hope she continues to work for us going forward! I would highly recommend Carla to anyone looking for a nanny!

Carla is a delight to work with and a real ray of sunshine, with her smiley, bubbly personality and hardworking can-do attitude. Since late 2023 she has supported with our (then) 9m old twin boys and 4yo daughter, and already feels like an important part of our family. She is a very experienced nanny and quickly developed a strong relationship with all three children, constantly chatting and playing with them. As well as nannying for our young twins, including putting down for naps, feeding and advice on all aspects of babycare, she is always happy to help with anything and everything the family needs, including playing games with our 4yo, cleaning, tidying, trips out, you name it...! We always look forward to seeing her, and she brings a fabulous sense of fun, order and calm.

After a really stressful time trying to figure out childcare my partner & i found carla & to say that she’s amazing is an understatement! She was able to help us out last minute & our two sons absolutely loved their time with her. From the get go Carla was bubbly, engaging and full of smiles which helped our sons instantly relax around her.

Carla has been working with our family since my son was 4 months old and he is now almost 9 months. She started helping us one day a week and more recently two days a week. She has a great personality for working with babies and children, as she makes everything a game and talks to the baby lots during the day. Carla also ensures the baby’s nursery is tidy and helps with his laundry, which is a huge help. A great bonus for us is that she is also able to drive the baby to classes and play groups. Carla is easy to talk to and has a lot of initiative.
