About Me
I live in the Hawkley Hall area of wigan and offer a high quality , flexible Childminding Service in my home for children of all ages. My main focus is to provide a home from home environment, where children are loved and nurtured allowing them to feel safe and secure. I work on the premise that their happiness will allow them to develop and flourish to their full potential.
Although I live alone, my house is always busy and lively, I am Mum to two grown up children and Nanna to 4 grandchildren. My family are very much a part of my setting and have always welcomed the many children who have thrived here over the years.
I adhere to the Early Years Framework and am always mindful of this on a daily basis, both ethically and when I am planning activities for the children. My aim is to provide a wide variety of age appropriate activities which reflect the 7 areas of learning but with the main objective being to have fun. I provide both indoor and outdoor learning opportunities from painting, reading, role play and dance to water and sand play, trampoline, swings and slides. I also devote time each day to ensuring that the children are taken out into the environment in order to explore and gain a variety of experiences. I am fortunate in that I live close to many nature reserves, parks and farms where we visit on a daily basis. We also enjoy trips to soft play areas and playgroups.
Safeguarding lies at the heart of my working ethos and I have strong codes of conduct in relation to this. I always ensure that the children's safety and wellbeing is put first and am continually risk assessing as I proceed with my working day.
My Experience
I have worked as an Ofsted Registered Childminder for almost eleven years and have a great deal of experience looking after children from birth to 15 years. Although I do not hold a specific childcare qualification, I am educated to post graduate level and have worked in various schools and local authority establishments over the years.
I have much experience in working with children with disabilities and special educational needs, particularly in relation to children with autism and adhd. I have also attended training courses to help further my knowledge in these areas. These experiences have allowed me a much deeper insight into my role as a childminder and have provided me with the opportunity to become a much more capable, understanding and competent childminder.

My usual working hours are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, although I am prepared to be flexible when required.
