About Us
Townsend Montessori Herne Bay is in the sea-side town of Herne Bay, making it the perfect location for families who live locally or in the nearby towns of Canterbury and Whitstable. The nursery provides full time and part time care for children aged 0-5 years.
Inside, the nursery has two large, spacious rooms. The baby’s and younger children’s room is well equipped with a calm and cosy space; as well as a space full of engaging resources and activities, encouraging the children to explore and be curious. They have their own dedicated garden to use throughout the day.
The Toddlers and Pre-School room is a warm and welcoming space located on the ground floor of the nursery, overlooking the garden. This enables the children to free flow from inside to outside during the day. The large garden houses a forest area as well as a main garden, with a climbing frame, sand and water play, and a planting area.
The nursery follows a Montessori approach to teaching which is based upon hands-on learning and collaborative play. We give children the opportunity to make creative choices with what they want to learn, and the Montessori teacher will observe what they do and how they do it.
We are open from 7:30am - 6pm Monday to Friday for 51 weeks of the year (we are closed at Christmas and on bank holidays).
