I have been a child minder in the Queen's park area for 20 years and have gained relevant experience with children from ages 0-11 yrs.
My name is Lesley Leigh and I have been a registered Childminder in Westminster since 2003
I am 57 years old and a member of PACEY and I am Ofsted approved. My last Ofsted Report was an overall GOOD with all 5 outcomes good also.
I completed my ICP (Introduction to Childminding Practice) and have been attending further courses- completing
Marketing and Partnership with Parents,
Health and Safety,
Understanding children's behaviour and Heuristic Play,
NVQ3 in Childcare
Health and Hygiene
ECAT scheme set up by the government to help children with their language and speech Development incorporating Makaton for children with speech difficulties.
Food handling and safety.
Fire hazards in the home
Child rearing
Child protection incorporating Radicalisation
Paediatric first aid
and many other courses also.
I attend regular on going childcare training which enables me to keep up to date with current good practice on health and safety, policy, legislation, dietary issues and more.
I am a warm and open person who embraces the care of children in my home. I believe that children thrive better in a loving and happy environment, where praise and encouragement promotes children's confidence.
Within my home I offer both in and outdoor toys.
My front room is solely used as a play area and my garden is an asset as I have a purpose built Summer House which is child friendly and safe for all ages.
Interaction with a child's peers is very important therefore I attend local playgroups and parks in my local area.
We attend other areas farther afield such as being members of London zoo, the natural history museum and visit Coram fields and local farms around London.
I have always been aware that choosing a minder to care for your child is a very fraught and important decision for parents and therefore I can empathise with parents leaving their child in the care of another person. I hope that I can ease any concerns by communicating with parents about the needs of a child. My behaviour management practices are to encourage positive behaviour by praise, setting a good example, distraction, encouraging responsibility and being consistent. My handling of behaviour will take into account each child's level of maturity and understanding. If any issues should arise, I will work in partnership with the parent to correct and help the child.
I also have an amazing assistant that is highly qualified to help in the instruction of your child.

Lesley looked after 2 of my children from when they were 10 months old until the eldest was 4.5 and the youngest was 3 years old when we left London.
I can not recommend Lesley highly enough. We worked together as a partnership. She has a fantastic understanding of children and is able to provide them with love while teaching them how to behave as part of a social group.
Lesley is a great believer of making sure that children get the right balance of physical activity, mental stimulation and down time.
It was fantastic to find such an amazing and trustworthy childminder. I was very sad when she refused to leave London to continue looking after my children.

Lesley gives 100% to the children in her care, they are her priority.
The children are taken to playgroups, the park, the Zoo, Museums, etc. My son was with Lesley for over 7 years and still talks fondly of the outings they went on.
In my personal opinion she's Wonderwoman

Lesley cared for my daughter Holly for 2 years, from the age of 1 to 3 1/2, and Holly adored her - she still talks about her 4 years on! Lesley is an absolutely wonderful childminder and a natural with children. She makes sure that the their days are filled with fun indoor and outdoor activities, and also spends time at the local drop in nurseries where the children can mix with other little ones. As parents, we were kept fully up-to-date with their progress throughout the days and weeks. Lesley offers the children in her care a fun-filled, stable, loving environment in which they feel happy, comfortable and safe. As a result, Holly is a bright loving, enthusiastic children with excellent communication skills and respect for others, attributes which we feel that Lesley has had a big part to play in during her early years. Finally, Lesley clearly adores all her children in her care, which is everything we as a family could wish for.

My son went to Lesley's from the time he was a year until he started school at 4. My daughter was with Lesley from 6 months.
Lesley taught me alot about how children learn, and it was great to have someone who knew the ropes on our side. I always felt that Lesley was totally engaged with both my kids; that she liked and understood them.
When my son was nervous about going to nursery school, Lesley worked with the managers of a local nursery to introduce him to the idea very gradually, while she was at a playgroup in the same centre, to give him a bit of independence but so that he would know where she was.
I'm certain a large part of my kid's outgoing, independent nature comes from spending time with Lesley. I'd highly recommend her as a childminder.

It was such a pleasure to work along side you creating these wonderful individuals. I'm sure they will go on to make their mark in life ?
Lesley looked after our first daughter Maggie from
6 mo, when I returned to work full time. She really tbonded with maggie quickly ensuring she had lots of settling sessions and sending me photos to reassure me throughout. Maggie loved the other children and the play groups and developed hugely under Lesley's care. We later moved away from the area which is the only reason why we left Lesley but we miss her still!
