My Summary
About Me
Hello parents, my name is Shekel and I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder in High Barnet. (The Learning Tree Childminders). I have two wonderful children of my own, whom are both in primary school. I am extremely passionate about caring for children and ensuring that they reach their full potential whilst in my care.
Whilst at the setting, I will ensure that the children are cared for in an engaging, stimulating and nurturing environment. I believe each child is individual, therefore I will aim to create opportunities to further develop their skills and independence.
I have a very encouraging hands on approach and ensure I promote the 7 areas of learning via EYFS guidance in a positive and fun way. I plan my daily lesson plans around the seven areas of learning in a way they are all interconnected.
My setting is run from the family home which boasts a large reception room and conservatory with the addition of a Smart Board, which promotes interactive learning. We also have a very large garden with a plethora of activities to undertake. There is off street parking in order for you to drop and collect your child and luckily, I am located a 5 minute walk from High Barnet Station.
My Experience
My background is predominately legal as I worked as a legal secretary for many years in both Banking and Private Healthcare Sectors. I also worked in a local primary school interacting with children and parents on a daily basis. Additionally, I also created my own baby and toddler group which ran on the weekends in collaboration with ASDA. This then transition to an online website which I created for mothers and their children to meet up and socialise.
Lastly, my mother has been a childminder for 30+ years and I have assisted her for the last couple of years with her daily running of the business.

My 2 year old son has been with Shekel for more than a year now and no words can tell how happy I am with the choice of childcare for my child. She exceeded my expectation of childminding in a clean setting just like home. Her setting is just amazing to encourage independence, safe and plenty of stuff to keep the children occupied.
My son was very reserved and used to cry often, she has managed to get his fear out and he is more interactive. His language and interpersonal skills have blossomed.
Shekel is very experienced and helpful, providing very useful guidance on how to support good behaviours and other useful parenting tips. She keeps you well informed of your child throughout the day with updates on Tapestry and keeps you informed in case your child is ill.
I love that this setting celebrates all special holidays such as eid/easter/christmas/diwali etc teaching the children everything about those special days. They also bake/cook together from time to time.
I would recommend Shekel to any parent looking for excellent childcare and worried about their little one settling in. Shekel is just the best!
I’m so happy that I enlisted Shekel’s services for my daughter.
My daughter is 4 years old and will be going to Reception in September 23. Due to working, I had to find childcare from July 23 and stumbled across her profile.
From our first visit I was put at ease and my daughter (who’s a Covid baby) rarely speaks, really warmed up to Shekel’s friendly and compassionate nature.
The setting is absolutely beautiful, clean and welcoming. The resources are all very modern and relevant to the different ages and stages of all children.
The main resource that appealed to me was the Interactive Smart Board. My daughter enjoys using this daily. I especially love receiving the Tapestry updates, detailing the different activities that she has undertaken that day. An added bonus is that Shekel creates her own curriculum for each term.
It’s a delight to see how much my daughter has settled and how much she is learning to aid her into Reception. The little things go a long way, like how independent she has become. She now knows phonics, numbers, she can put on her own coat and has even started holding conversations with others and now enjoys playing with peers.
Thank you Shekel 😊
Shekel has truly been a blessing!
As a first-time mother, leaving my 6 month old to go back to work was a very scary event. I wasn’t sure how me and baby would deal with the separation anxiety.
However, me and my husband were immediately put at ease by Shekel. Her orientation sessions were charming and essential to my child’s adjustment. The environment is lovely, secure, and quite exciting with a plethora of activities from colouring books, educational toys, paints, sensory, dress up and a large interactive white board.
I can view my son’s progress via a Tapestry account, it’s amazing to see how much he’s learned.
My son used to cry whenever we left the room but as the months have gone by he has become more independent by playing by himself at home.
An excellent addition is the daily update on your child’s day which has been put together to update me on his mood, interactions, what he’s eaten, learned and how he is developing. This was very important to me as every parent wants to ensure their child is developing at the correct pace.
Shekel, is a top professional and excellent childminder and I couldn’t recommend anyone better. If any parent is looking for a home away from home, then this is the setting for you.
