My Experience
Hello, let me introduce myself. I have many years’ experience caring for
children and babies and I am an Ofsted registered Childminder.
I am NNEB qualified, studied at Princess Christian college Manchester. I
have a wide range of childcare experience from newborn to children up
to the age of 10 years old. I enjoy nurturing children of all ages and
abilities.
I follow the Early Years Statutory Framework and Development matters,
which documents set out the expectations of learning and development
and health and safety.
My setting is a spacious apartment and I provide plenty of activities for
the children to get involved in, as well as lots of toys to play with …
although it’s astonishing where one can travel with a cardboard box!
Being outside is a key part of children’s development and my setting is
next to Kensington Gardens, so there is plenty of scope for outside play,
curiosity and experimentation – and building awareness of how we are
connected to the natural environment. Attending playgroups, rhyme
time, visits to local libraries, soft play centres and museums are also on
the agenda. I like to keep an active, varied diary yet mindful also that the
children have time for independent indoor play, games, art, dance and
music in a stimulating home environment.
It’s important to have time for rest, and I find that story time is a great
way to wind down physically, while stimulating the imagination and
supporting literacy, numeracy and attention. I encourage the children to
get involved too, telling their own stories as soon as they are able.
A balanced, healthy and varied diet is vital to a child’s physical
development and I use plenty of fresh ingredients in the food I provide,
and we take time to eat together and enjoy our mealtimes. You will be
updated with what your child has had to eat and drink during the day.
I provide updates of each day’s meals and activities, allowing parents to
have continuity with their child’s learning as they develop.
My setting is served by two tube stations a couple of minutes’ walk away,
with access to the Central, District, Circle lines. The Hammersmith Line
is a 10-minute walk away.
Most recently, I have spent time working as a class Teaching Assistant in
primary schools (in both the state and independent sector), working
across Key Stages 1 and 2 – bringing keen awareness of the path that
lies ahead for your child and the milestones they will reach. I enjoy
supporting children with their emotional and social awareness, peer
friendships, and giving teaching support during lessons. I have given
one-to-one support so children can thrive while following their individual
learning plan. I have experience of giving speech and language support,
one to one personal development, and creating games tailored to ensure
fun and learning success, and also worked with small structured phonics
groups.
To ensure that I stay up to date with the latest regulations, legislation and
best practices for providing quality care for children, I undertake CPD
courses.
I am happy to have a chat, or meet with you to discuss your childcare
needs and I look forward to hearing from you.

Reviews

Saskia took care of our 15 months old boy with the best care. I highly recommend her, she’s been a very stable, entertaining and listening figure for him.
Our son always felt comfortable expressing his personality in a caring and learning environment appropriate to his development. He is very happy to go to Saskia’s place which is very important for us. Saskia also keeps learning about children’s development on the side by following seminars. I could discuss with her all the small challenges you can face with a toddler, which was very helpful at home as well. Communication was always excellent, and she’s been asking regularly what we felt needed extra attention on the learning (e.g. when our son hit the « throwing everything » phase, we’ve been working on helping him regulating it).
Our son is now 22 months old, and Saskia has gained our complete trust! We also entrusted our 4yo on Wednesday afternoon with her after school as he loves it. It was our best decision for childcare.
I highly recommend Saskia as a nanny/childminder, she is brilliant! My son has autism, and Saskia was obviously experienced and handled his unusual behaviour very well, she knew when to let him do his own thing and when to set the limits, which is rare, especially on the first meeting. Perfect communication, cosy welcoming space, lots of books and games, and Saskia was calm, confident and friendly. We're looking forward to having her help again soon.
