About Me

Hey there! I'm Kellita and I’ve recently settled into Surrey after a vibrant upbringing in the Cayman Islands. The shift in scenery has been invigorating, especially with the chance to finally experience the changing seasons firsthand. My journey with childcare started young, around 8 years old, when I began babysitting neighbourhood kids after school or during breaks. It quickly became a passion of mine, something I've always been naturally good at. Education has always been a priority for me. Throughout high school and my A-levels, I made sure to seek out extra help whenever needed. I've carried this value into my childcare approach, ensuring that learning is not only effective but also enjoyable for the kids I look after. Adaptability is one of my strongest suits, recognizing that everyone learns and processes information differently. Looking ahead, I have ambitious plans for my future. While I appreciate that my mindset may evolve over time, I'm keen on building a family of my own while pursuing a career as a Psychologist specializing in working with young children. In my downtime, you'll often find me lost in a good book or spending quality time with my friends and my older sister, who's my closest confidante. We're big on coffee dates, lunch outings, and movie nights – activities I also love to share with the children I nanny, minus the coffee, of course! I'm also passionate about creative outlets like writing poetry, journaling, and doing devotionals. These practices help me stay connected with my emotions and maintain a well-rounded perspective on life. When it comes to activities with the children I nanny, I lean towards those that foster emotional awareness, like colouring and visits to the park. Helping kids stay in touch with their feelings is crucial for their growth and development in an ever-changing world. Being part of children's lives as they grow up is a profound experience, reminding me of the passage of time and the beauty of innocence. It's a joyous journey that keeps me grounded and teaches me valuable lessons about life. I see nanny roles not just as a job but as an ongoing opportunity for learning and enjoyment. My schedule is flexible, so feel free to reach out to discuss any arrangements not listed here, though I can't guarantee availability. Let's make some memorable moments together!

My Experience

I've been involved in childcare for various ages and settings. For instance, I cared for a young boy, Daniel from 2 months to three years old, typically spending 6-10 hours a week with him. My responsibilities ranged from cooking and cleaning to bath time and following his sleep schedule, all aimed at ensuring his well-being. Additionally, I occasionally look after my sister's 2-year-old goddaughter, Addi, engaging in activities like imaginative play, cooking, outdoor adventures, and movie nights- she is always very insistent we watch Shrek. We spend around six hours together on weekends, often including bedtime routines. Although she's initially attached to her mother, she eventually settles in. Moreover, I've cared for another young girl, Summer, from she was six months to 3 years old, providing overnight stays when necessary. While her meals were usually prepared in advance, I handled bottle feedings and snacks. On Sundays, I volunteer at my church's nursery for about an hour, where I interact with toddlers aged 1-3. We enjoy singing, dancing, and playful activities while ensuring they're comfortable, fed, and tended to as needed.
