My Summary
About Me
Hello, my name is Stevie and I have recently graduated from university with a psychology degree. During my degree, I particularly enjoyed the child development and autism modules, so decided to look into career paths around childcare. I would describe myself as a creative, positive, open minded individual. On my days off, you will typically find me out with friends, at hot yoga or salsa dancing, or at home with a good book. I am an foodie, so enjoy cooking, and take pride in making and eating (really) good food. I also love all animals, and live with a dog myself, so would be more than happy to work in a home with pets.
My Experience
For around a year and a half, I supported a young girl with complex care needs inside of her home, and taking her out into the wider community. Alongside this role, I volunteered with a charity called ‘Caudwell Children’, where I was involved in running short break activities for children with autism to give their families a break. Towards the end of my degree, I obtained a breakfast and after school club job, where I worked with ages 3-12. I also have experience with older children through my volunteer position, as well as young adults through a care job. I loved all of my past jobs where I worked with children, and would love to peruse a long term career path in nannying/childcare.
A summary of some of the experience I have obtained through 2 years of childcare includes: peg feeding, giving medication, working with non verbal individuals, autism, down syndrome, changing pads, personal care, day trips, home visits, hospital visits, arranging activities, supporting with homework, working with challenging behaviour, positive behaviour encouragement, planning meals, cooking meals, water play, messy play, music play and outdoor games/ supervision.
My Qualifications
I have 9 GCSEs, 2 A-Levels, a psychology degree, a certificate in communication and family support, a NCFE CACHE Level 3 award in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and a NCFE CACHE Level 2 certificate in understanding behaviour that challenges. I have a DBS on the updated system so would not need to obtain another DBS. Please note that I am open to obtaining further training and qualifications if necessary.
My Availability
I am mainly looking for work during the week days, however would be open to weekend and overnight shifts for the right client.
