About Me
Hello! I’m Kathryn (26). I’m a third-year PhD student in Philosophy at the University of Bristol. I’ve recently moved from London to be closer to the university and experience a new city. I have significant experience looking after children (ages 2 - 16 +). In London, I regularly babysat for a family for two years (two lovely girls, 5 and 9). I also have considerable experience caring for my nieces and nephews (between the ages of 2 and 14). In addition to my childcare experience, I also teach undergraduate students at the university (typically 18 +). A little about me: I’m a very keen reader and love to share this passion with others (especially children). I’m very active and enjoy running, yoga and ballet. I also like to reconnect with my more creative side and enjoy painting, printmaking and pottery. I plan to stay in Bristol for the next few years to complete my Ph.D. Thereafter, I hope to pursue a career in academia. I’m really looking forward to getting to know Bristol and its friendly, vibrant communities! I hope to find families that will make me feel welcome, and I look forward to meeting them.
My Experience
Whilst living in London, I babysat for a lovely family fortnightly for over a year. The children (two girls) were aged 5 and 9. My responsibilities involved preparing and supervising meal times, assisting with homework, bathing, reading and bedtime. Occasionally, I would also stay overnight and help out with school runs in the mornings. In addition to this role, I have frequently cared for my nieces and nephews (between the ages of 2 - 14). This involved staying overnight (mealtimes, bedtime, trips out to the local park, etc.)
My Qualifications
I'm a qualified graduate teacher at the University of Bristol responsible for running seminars, marking work and providing pastoral support to undergraduate students. I have a BA in Philosophy from the University of Kent, a masters in Medical Ethics and Law from King's College London and am currently working towards my PhD in Philosophy at University of Bristol. I also have significant workplace experience in administration, education, and hospitality.
