My Summary

My Experience

I have volunteered weekly as a Young Leader for over 5 years with a local Beaver Scouts Group, who typically range from age 5-8 years old. I worked alongside the adult leaders to create and lead fun games and workshops for the Beavers, as well as assisted in keeping them safe and happy on days out and longer trips such as camping trips and the annual PGL weekend away. This has prepared me for a high level of responsibility and safety when working with children. As part of my Young Leader volunteering, I had to complete multiple training and safeguarding courses.

I also worked closely with children with learning disabilities, in order to help them feel more comfortable and create a safe environment that caters to their specific needs.

I spent a fortnight doing work experience at a local primary school with Year 1 and Year 2 students. My responsibilities were to make sure they understood their learning, guide and lead activities for them and help children 1-1 with their personal difficulties - i.e maths and reading. At the end of the two weeks, I was sad to leave as I had such an amazing experience.

My Qualifications

I don't yet have any childcare-related qualifications. However, I have 9 GSCE's including Maths and English, as well as 3 A-levels. Additionally, I have a variety of safe-guarding/ first aid training due to my previous job at a care home (which required an Enhanced DBS) and my volunteer work as a Young Leader.

My Availability

My availability is dependent on my lectures at university, however I'm happy to help out whenever I can.
