About Me
Hi! I'm Derek, and I'm married to Tracy, and together we have two daughters, Erin (12) and Raine (9). Erin has Chromosome 15q Duplication Syndrome and hence she has special needs. She is a lovely girl, very peaceful and calm, so is a pleasure to look after. Raine is neuro-typical, fun and gregarious.
My Requirements
As parents to a special needs child, my wife and I don't ever have opportunities to go out for dinner or any other activities. We are looking for a female carer who can work for us part-time, once during an evening in the week (Thursdays 6pm to 10pm ideally), and then on Saturdays 10am to 4pm. This will allow my wife and I to have some respite, and also on Saturdays to do fun things with Raine without having to try accommodate Erin's needs.
Erin is quite tall, but skinny, and a bit underweight for her age. She is healthy, eats well and loves her rooibos (red bush) tea bottles. She is epileptic and has medication with her meals to control her seizures. She has not had a big seizure for about 6 months. Erin cannot speak, and neurologically is probably similar to a 10 month old baby. She loves cuddles and tickles, being read to, and listening to music. She likes to go outside for walks, pushed along in her wheelchair. Erin can walk if she is supported, but she's a bit clumsy, hence the need for the wheelchair.
Erin is a very sweet, gentle soul, and we have found that most people her meet her do enjoy her peaceful, sweet nature.
