My Summary
About Me
Hi! My name is Ella.
Growing up as the oldest sibling in my family, I naturally took on a nurturing role from a young age. I spent countless hours playing with my younger cousins and brother, whilst looking out for them. I’ve always been the go-to for helping with the younger children.
I have a big love for animals, especially dogs, and they’ve been a constant in my life.
I’m currently studying for a Law LLB at the University of Reading, in order to fulfil my dream of practising in family law. I want to pursue a career in family law because I have always been passionate about helping families and children through difficult times, such as adoption or family disputes. I want to advocate for those who need it and make a meaningful difference in their lives.
My experiences have shaped me into a caring, dependable, and motivated person, and I’m excited for the opportunities ahead as I work towards my goals.
My Experience
Overall, my key responsibilities whilst babysitting have included keeping the children entertained through activities and gameplay, ensuring the children's safety at all times and preparing meals and snacks. I also make sure they follow their routines, such as bedtime.
For the past 5 years, I have occasionally babysat for a family I know well. I have watched the three children grow up from a young age. Over the years, I’ve cared for them at different stages, from when they were 5 to their current ages of 10 and 13. During my time with them, I’ve been involved in outdoor play, reading bedtime stories, playing board games, assisting with homework, helping them settle for bed, and checking on them throughout the night until their parents return.
I’ve also babysat for another family on and off over the past 5 years, who have two young girls currently aged 8 and 11.
In addition to the families I babysit more regularly, I have also occasionally looked after some of my neighbour's children, with responsibilities similar to those I have with the other families.
Currently, I am also employed by a family for a regular childcare job after school 3 days a week.
As part of my Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award, I volunteered once a week for three months at a local primary school. My duties included leading games, assisting with meal times, tidying up, and engaging in both indoor and outdoor activities, either individually or with larger groups.
