About Us

My name is Carly, I am 39 years old and live with my husband Damian, Jack 15, Megan 12 and Jessica 10 in May.
I run after school care at St. Thomas Winchelsea.
This is 3.15 - 7.15pm
£5 per hour dinner £2.00 extra
snacks and drinks inc.
Lots of craft, games, playing, fun out side and more for more details please contact me.

In the holidays I run my Forest School, I charge £30.00 9am - 3pm. Forest School is all about encouraging the children to think for themselves and initiate their own activities and to manage their own risks. The children will have the opportunity to learn how to use tools and light fires, safely under my guidance.
This is the Plan for the Easter Holidays:
CARLY'S CHILD CARE & FOREST SCHOOL FUN EASTER HOLIDAYS 2021!

During these two weeks children will have the chance to learn many new skills. There will be planned activities each day where they can learn how to use tools, these are:

Week 1:
Tuesday 6th April: Using a bow saw we will cut wooden disks to make Easter bunny’s and chicks.

Wednesday 7th April: Easter wind catchers with wooden disks and pinecones.

Thursday 8th April: Weaving a nest, tools used will be bow saw, hammer, nails and safety whittler.

Friday 9th April: Pinecone art, the children can get creative painting.

Week 2:
Monday 12th April: Using an axe, hammer and nails and bow saw we will make wooden rabbits.

Tuesday 13th April: Using the bow saw, hammer, nails and wool we will make decorative wooden disks weaving a pattern on top.

Wednesday 14th April: Using an axe, hammer and nails and bow saw we will make wooden free standing fun chicks.

Thursday 15th April: Using the bow saw and hammer and nails we will make marble runs.

Friday 16th April: We will whittle bows and arrows to later safely fire into the woods.

Tools: I will be taking a selection of tools, some of which I have not listed above. Children who have already attended my Forest School sessions and have learnt how to use other tools will be able use them again under my guidance to keep their tool knowledge up. Children that have not yet learnt how to use all the tools will be taught, and be able to use them if they wish. Planned activities are not compulsory and if the children would like to make their own creation this will be encouraged!

Games: We will play different games each day these include, 123 where are you? Forest noughts and crosses, parachute games, name games, woodland drumming, den building and lots of free play!

Fire: I found in the last Forest School sessions that the children all really wanted to explore having a fire. I will set aside a set time each day and ask all the children to join me in the safety circle where if they would like to make a fire, I will teach them safely how to do so.

Children are not forced to join in with the activities as Forest School is all about encouraging the children to think for themselves and initiate their own activities. However, children will be asked to sit and listen to the 'tool talk' and 'blood bubble talk' this way I can teach everyone at the same time and the children can decide if they want to join in after.

All Children will be asked to help with the tidy up and then we will reflect on the day before our walk back to the parents. During the reflection talk children will take it in turns to pass round the talking stick, only the person with the talking stick may talk. When they have the talking stick, they are then able to tell the group their favourite part of the day, what they would like to try next time and if there was anything that they didn’t enjoy or wouldn’t do again.
This is an important part of our day; it helps the children identify any mistakes they think they made and then gives them the chance to correct them when they next attempt the situation. They are also building, remembering, sharing and revisiting skills.
Reflecting is also a great way for me to hear what has or hasn't worked, and what children may need extra support when doing particular activities.

Clothing: PLEASE PLEASE can all children wear warm clothes. My last sessions it rained non-stop for three days but the children still loved it! I always say there’s no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing!

They will need
lots of warm layers
Jumper
A bag of spare clothes because they will get wet and they will get muddy. Spare clothes must be kept in a waterproof bag that can get muddy
Warm waterproof coat
Waterproof trousers are ideal as we are kneeling a lot of the time, and we are out in all weathers
Thick socks, or two pairs
Gloves. Spare gloves are ideal as gloves will get wet quickly
Hat
Scarf
Waterproof boots or waterproof walking boots

Lunch/snack: All children will need to bring their own lunch, snacks and drink in a bottle. I can refill drinking bottles with water.
Mid-afternoon as a treat and a warm up the children can have a hot drink there is a choice of:
Hot chocolate
Milky coffee
Tea
Served with squirty cream and a marshmallow! Dairy free can be available.

When dropping off or picking up please can parents drive slowly into the car park.
Can I also remind you all that while in the car park please respect the 2m rule and if you are happy to drop and go to minimis the amount of people in the car park that would be great thank you.

Also, can I ask that parents DO NOT meet us in the woods at the Forest School site, please wait at the car park for me to bring the children back to you. This is for safeguarding purposes.
