Hi, I'm Kathleen! I moved to Scotland from the United States almost two years ago and I've loved every minute of being here. I'm based in Shettleston. Some fun little facts about me are that I love to read and bake. I actually think including children in the ingredient process of baking is so beneficial as it's both fun and works on motor skills! I am also a huge animal person so if you have any fur babies as well I have no issue helping with them!
My Experience
I've recently graduated with my master's in psychology with my main career goal being a child counselor. I have previously worked with children as a soccer (football) coach where our main focus was working on socialization, imagination, and motor skills. I worked with ages 2-12 within groups of at least 5 children. Growing up I was also a babysitter for my neighbors, the youngest being a year old with ages up to adolescence. While completing my undergraduate degree I interned with a special needs educator teaching children and adolescents with special needs in a live-in care facility. I also have personal experience working with and helping my young cousin who is non-verbal. I've always pictured myself working with children, as understanding and working in child development is incredibly interesting and rewarding to me.
My Qualifications
I have both my undergraduate and master's degree in psychology where topics like child development- both physical and mental- are heavily discussed.
