About Me
Doves Garden is perfectly nestled between the sea and the South Downs.
I hope to be registered with Ofsted as a childminder and running by 2 nd Nov 2024.
*High quality nurturing childminding with small groups from November 24.
-Tax-Free Childcare will be available soon and EYEE funding from Easter 2025.
I am taking applications now for places starting in February 2025 and beyond.

Doves Garden offers:
-Quality Childminding in a small home setting, near the sea adapted for children.
Most sessions are daytime and evening, but we are also registered for overnight stays.
-Quality Nanny services in your home (subject to availability).
-Makers & Creators after school club for children 4-8 years old.
-Nature based holiday clubs. (Half terms and Holidays)
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10-3 (£42) or extra hours by arrangement (+£10p/h)
Half-Term dates are Tuesday 18 & Wed 19th February 2025.
Easter dates: Mon 7th April -Thurs 19 April 25
Sessions will run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays most holiday weeks.
-May include watercolour painting, printing and eco or seasonal crafts.
-Includes free play, which increase imagination and creative skills.
-This group is also suitable as home education enrichment activities.
-Little Doves Parent, Baby and Child group (0-3 years old) Thursdays 10:30am-12:30pm.
£12 includes shared lunch with fresh home made Spelt bread.
All in our warm, friendly child nurturing setting.

NEW ‘Makers & Creators after school Club. 3:45-5:45 pm For 4-8 year olds.
£20 a session (running Wednesdays or Thursdays. )
This club is suitable for home educated children as a curriculum enrichment opportunity, as well as for children attending school/ preschool or nursery.
Parents/ carers can ask to attend if it would support a child with SEN.
My Approach:

+I have an eco aware approach, using non toxic cleaning materials and repurposing waste to make lovely new things.
Settling in: I offer the following for you and your child to get to know the space and Childminder. This helps build connection and trust with each child, so that the first session can be a joy:

We have adapted our home with a purpose built garden with professional playground equipment.
+We have a beautiful play room with natural toys, which enhance creativity.
+We also have a covered outdoor play and craft area, organic veg beds and play areas.
+We have natural wooden toys and hand crafted dolls.
+Quality art and craft materials for your child to enjoy such activities.
The provision will take the best of my Steiner Waldorf Kindergarten approach, add respectful care (Emmi Pikler inspired) and a fun and patient approach. i am hoghly trained and experienced in early years, see below.
Plus daily nature walks, garden time and movement opportunities
Indoor and outdoor free play= a recipe for a fun childhood.
Children learn when they are having fun.
If you do not yet know Waldorf Education, it allows children to enjoy childhood, though child- led free-play, songs, stories, outdoor adventures and seasonal crafts.
We have three cats. I care about healthy nutrition for children. When we bake we use organic ingredients and the children model using the bread dough. I use organic ingredients when possible when I cook. Mostly parents bring lunch and snacks.
We grow some of our own food including vegetables, herbs for tea and edible flowers!
My Experience
23 years working with children in Waldorf Schools- including:
Leading Parent & Child groups.
Working as a Kindergarten Assistant (10 years) then Kindergarten teacher (13 years) in mixed age groups of 3-6 year olds and Saplings for 2-4 year olds.
I started Doves Garden Last April (2023) running an arts and crafts tutoring group for children.
I have also worked in a children’s centre and community centre as the Health and Well- being coordinator, running groups and doing community outreach.
I am a trained and experienced therapist too, which brings a sensitivity to my work with children and parent mentoring sessions.
I have monthly parenting workshops starting soon. Please ask for details or to be added to the email list.
I love working with young children and have a lot of patience.
Physical and emotional health and wellbeing are central to my approach with children and families.
My Qualifications
BA Hons Degree in Culture and Communication.
Early Years Educator (Level 4) An Early Years Professional (EYPS- Level 6)
DSL- Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Paediatric first aid.
Handle levels 1 & 2 training with the Brighton Learning House.
And much, much more ongoing CPD.
I have over 100 certificates, including ongoing safeguarding training, Well-being training and arts and crafts CPD, all of which can be shown to you on request. including:

In my last setting The Brighton Waldorf School, I was the School's Eco School Coordinator and the Sustainable Travel Ambassador. we received bronze, silver and then gold accreditation with Modeshift Stars Education.
Under my guidance, we were also awarded 4 awards: the Stars Early Years Establishment of the Region Award (South East Area) and the National Stars Early Establishment of the Year Awards for 2020-21 & 2021-22.
I apply eco- friendly principles to my groups at home, reducing, reusing and reducing waste, and connecting children with the garden, growing food and with nature. We have reused materials in our eco building. I use environmentally friendly and non toxic cleaning products that are safe for children to use and breathe in. They are made with essential oils and smell great!
My Availability
Mostly daytime, but I can do evenings and sleepovers on request subject to availability.
I am available for some hours as a nanny in your home.
