About Me
Hello, I'm Joy and nurturing children is both a privilege and my passion. I am a qualified art teacher by trade with a post graduate certificate in education, with lots of imagination and creative play ideas up my sleeve and a great sense of humour to get your children laughing, enjoying the moment. I know how very important it is for mother, fathers and carers to find dependable childcare for their little ones that will cherish them and keep them safe and happy. I am that person and will do my utmost to bring the best of myself to you and your family. I respect and value the different ways people would like their children looked after and I will respect your wishes and do my very best to tailor my services to your family. I have a philosophy of kindness, non judgment and compassion and bring this with me wherever I go.
I am looking for work in the areas of Muswell Hill, Highgate, Finchley, East Fichley, Hornesy, Wood Green, Archway and Hampstead.
My Experience
I have qualified teacher status. I taught children aged 11-18 Art as head of art department for three years. I love working with adolescents and the sense of adventure and challenge they bring.
I have also been a teaching assistant working with children with SEN status. I love working with children who need that little extra help and confidence boost.
I worked in a nursery for a little while a well a a nanny working with children aged 3-8. I especially enjoyed the relationship I was able to build as a nanny with the children, meeting them with a warm smile at the school gates, taking them home and being that safe, fun, kind person in their lives whilst their parents were away.
I have been a playleader in after school clubs and a teacher of English in holiday camps for children from overseas.
I set up a therapeutic arts group for children aged 6-16 in a Beirut orphanage in the Lebanon for a number of months and it was a spectacular experience. It was such a joy to see children flourish in such challenging circumstances.
I have NSPCC training and used to take calls to support children facing emotional difficulties over the phone-it was so so rewarding.
Now I am taking a course in counselling with a BACP approved college as I would like to become a children's counsellor.
I have an enhanced DBS check, a car, QTS, am English/French bilingual. I speak a little Spanish.
