About Me
I am a soon to be university graduate, I have been studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. I have 8 years experience working in childcare. In my free time I enjoy reading fantasy books, playing boardgames, and trying new food. I am a very keen cook and happy to assist with meal times.
My approach to childcare is firmly child led and open ended. I believe if a safe environment is created then the child is free to explore their interests. I love messy play and arts and crafts, through working at nurseries I have lots of ideas for interesting activities that can set be up. Through providing open ended play a child's imagination has more freedom, coloured fabric can become a river for fish or a race track for cars.
My Experience
I started babysitting when I was 14 and found it very enjoyable. When I left college I started doing agency work in Brighton at local nurseries.
I was then offered a position working regularly at a council nursery as a one to one support worker for children with additional needed. I worked with children aged 1 to 5 that had needs such as speech delays, autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities. During this time I learnt speech therapy skills alongside trained professionals and created development plans and goals for the children I worked with. I worked there for a few years before I moved to Horsham.
I have also done some volunteering work in local primary schools, and worked in after school clubs.
I am now coming up to finishing my degree and wanting to go back to working with children in a more relaxed home environment.
