Hello, I'm Nancy, a 21-year-old graduate from the University of Leeds, where I took Childhood Studies. I am extremely friendly, adaptable and easy to get along with, my extensive experience in childcare settings has strengthened my passion for working with children. Having worked across a diverse set of learning environments, including a forest school, I have delivered and assisted with creative and academic sessions which are engaging, enjoyable and memorable. Allowing children to have a say in what they want to do, whilst completing everyday tasks in a fun way, is instrumental in my approach.
My Experience
I have extensive experience engaging with children aged 3-11, demonstrating my adaptability across different age groups.
In my free time, I've volunteered in an after-school club, gaining patience and compassion – crucial attributes when working with children. I also mentored students with special needs in my secondary school, focusing on enhancing their reading and writing skills, as well as behavioral management.
My experience working with special-needs students has broadened this year as I undertook a placement where I supervised and led activities at a SEND forest school. Additionally, I serve as a cover Teaching Assistant in schools throughout Leeds, encompassing nurseries, primary schools, and those specialising in SEND. This role demands a high level of adaptability, and my experiences with toddlers have fostered a genuine love for their company. My friendly and approachable nature makes me easy to connect with, reflecting my commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment for children.
I have also been part of the Princess of Wales' campaigning project for Early Childhood, expressing my experience of working within the sector and the importance of this time for children.
My Qualifications
I am on track to graduate with a first class honours in July for Childhood Studies BA, I have 3 A Levels in Classical Civilisation (A) Philosophy and Ethics (A) and English Literature (B), and 9 GCSEs graded A-C, including Maths and English.
My Availability
Having just completed my degree in Childhood Studies at the University of Leeds, the top-rated university within the field, I am looking for full-time work for the foreseeable future. I would be happy to do weekends, but would discuss arrangements for days off with potential parents/carers, dependent on their schedules etc.
