About Me
I have a brother, and five step-siblings between the ages of 8 and 17, as well as cousins aged 5 and 7 so I'm pretty confident with kids and teenagers. I especially enjoy reading to them and going on walks.
Bookworm - I read about 50 books a year and it is my most favouriote hobby. Reading helped me become more imaginative and literate when I firsdt started and I am very keen to share my love of reading with kids. I really enjoy reading with/to children of all ages and could also do this in German or Spanish.
Homework - I used to dread homework as a little kid but my parents were amazing in helping me enjoy school. I would love to support kids in their academic achievements. I have experience tutoring children in English. I also did biology, geography, Spanish, maths, and economics in the IB, and currently study International Relations and International Law so I can help in most subjects!
Foodie - I am the biggest foodie out there and absolutely adore trying new recipes. I am a vegetarian myself so I only cook vegetarian at home, but wouldn't mind also cooking meat for the kids (not seafood or fish though). I enjoy learning about nutrition and having well-balanced meals that are fun, delicious and healthy (that being said - I also cannot resist a good dessert). I would love to sit down with parents and discuss meal plans and/or what type of foods you would like me to incorporate so I can ensure the kids are happy and healthy.
My Experience
I grew up in Germany, went to school in Toronto, Canada and now study at the University of Edinburgh. One of the main things I’ve learnt from moving around is the value of diversity and open-mindedness.
My personal interests include reading books and the news, learning languages and advocating for feminism. I also really enjoy cooking, and love trying new veggie recipes! I'd love to become a solicitor in the future, either in medical or corporate law!
Outside university, I'm involved in lots of different societies. I was part of the Political Union Committee for two years, the Outreach Officer of Girl* Up for a year, and have recently joined the Yoga Society. In secondary school I tutored German speakers in English (as I'm fluent in both), and was the Chair of our diversity council. As someone with ADHD, neurodiversity advocacy is especially important to me!
