About Me
Hi! My name is Sydney and I recently moved to the UK from America. I have an offer to study an MA in Social Work (specialising in children & family services) starting this fall and am looking for any opportunity I can get to make some extra cash before starting. I have no children of my own but I absolutely adore them & would love the opportunity to get to know you & your family! I’m fun, easygoing, and love to come up with cool new things to do that are age-appropriate. I always incorporate teaching new ideas and concepts into childcare and relish time spent at a museum or in nature, or even just watching Bluey and playing with Lego!
My Experience
I completed most of an Education degree (undergrad) and have 8 years direct teaching experience (from infants to adults), as a lead teacher, aide, or substitute, proctor, and tutor, as well as over 15 years of babysitting experience. I have worked for Child Protective Services in Texas as a caseworker for foster youths, including those who had behavioural problems or emotional and/or physical health conditions. I have a brother who is 9 years younger than me is diagnosed autistic so have experience caring for children with additional needs. I also have three nieces and five nephews whom I love very much!
My Qualifications
BS/MA History (specialised in Secondary Education as undergraduate), starting Social Work degree in the fall. I do not have a DBS check at this time but working towards getting one through a local organisation where I have applied to volunteer with children. I worked with children in the States prior to moving and you can trust I have a clean record — I can provide whatever evidence is necessary and give references if needed. I am First Aid certified and was given re-certification in December when I worked as a teacher with the YWCA.
