About Me
Welcome to Hollybush Childcare. My name is Cheryl and I am certified by Ofsted and offer childcare Monday - Thursday.
I have been teaching in the primary sector for the past 20+ years and am an early years professional. Ensuring each child whatever their age, capability and background, has every opportunity to develop and further their skills in all learning areas.
I aim to provide your child a home from home environment that is safe, warm, exciting and stimulating. With inside and outside play areas for children to enjoy. They will have experience to learn about the natural environment with fields, forest and farm areas nearby as well as being in contact with a menagerie of pets, those being, 4 French bulldogs, one training to become a behaviour therapist dog, a cat, a parrot, a snake, a tortoise and a tropical fish tank. All the pets have areas in the house and garden so they are not in constant contact with your child.
Your child will learn about different environments, professions and roles in our world with visits to different places learning about every day life. For example, shopping trips to learn about different foods, wildlife parks to see animals in a more natural surrounding, museums and historical places to learn how the world has evolved and changed. They will also learn how to eat healthy by helping to create their own meals as well as using role play activities to enhance their communication and understanding skills.
As an Ofsted childminder I will adhere to all policies and regulations and be committed to the welfare and development of each child. Encouraging them to become independent, fearlessly curious, confident and happy.
My Experience
I am a fully qualified primary school teacher who has been working in the education sector for many years and very experienced teaching primary school age children of all ages. The main areas I have taught and enjoy is EYFS. I have taught in nurseries, independent and state sector schools.
I am experienced in assisting children in all prime areas of learning offering fun but also challenging and engaging learning activities to further their skills.
I believe children learn through play and will further each child’s skills on something they enjoy and create rather than planning activities for them to take part in.

NVQ3 in EYFS
First aid paediatric qualified
My Availability
I offer Monday- Thursday 8:00 am - 5 pm term time mainly but can offer school holiday with pre-booking.
I also offer 1-1 tuition to assist children from 4 yrs onwards with maths, literacy, phonics and reading.

Cheryl is a fantastic teacher/tutor. The perfect balance of warm, fun and caring mixed with just the right air of authority that a child really responds well to. My daughter is nearly 5 years old and she has really enjoyed Cheryl’s lessons the last few months and is developing her skills well. She looks forward to seeing Cheryl each week and speaks very highly of her. She’s even asked if she could move in to “save her the travel”. I would completely trust my daughter in Cheryl’s care and highly recommend her as a tutor. She has an effective style of teaching, mixes the lesson up well to cover all the necessary subjects but in a way that feels fun for my little girl. The sessions are a fantastic way to support my daughter’s learning.

My son always looks forward to going to Cheryls house and often needs persuading to come home again! It is very reassuring to leave him with someone he is so comfortable with and has quickly formed an attachment with, it's like leaving him with a member of the family. Cheryl does so much with him, he is learning lots and playing with a variety of toys and enjoying lots of outdoor activities as well. Cheryl has a healthy eating policy that is important to us and will help to teach our son healthy habits. Cheryl has great communication, and we get regular updates, photos and videos throughout the day via an easy to use app. We would recommend Hollybush childcare and are looking forward to Cheryl also caring for our daughter soon.

It is a pleasure caring for your son who is so keen to learn and join in with lots of activities and look forward to his sibling starting in the near future.
Cheryl had my two boys (4&5) for two days at the very end of the Christmas holidays. After being let down by a local childminder, Cheryl was able to accommodate me last minute, and I was so grateful.
Cheryl is so lovely and welcoming, and being a previous teacher, she knows her stuff and is very professional. All paperwork and credentials are to hand immediately. Cheryl's home is beautiful and immaculate, and full of toys and animals for engagement and lots of fun.
My boys enjoyed themselves so much, they didn't want to go home! I was updated throughout the day too, with pictures and lovely comments. So I felt totally at ease.
I would thoroughly recommend this setting, and Cheryl, and so would my boys.
