About Me

Working in the early years sector has always been a passion of mine, and I have worked in many preschools, nurseries and have also managed an out of school club. I am a big advocate for open ended play using natural objects and loose parts to allow children to play how they want to play. I also love messy play
and the endless learning and development opportunities that takes place through it. I believe it is so important to listen to each individual child to plan in the moment and extend play opportunities, whether this is through identifying schemas (patterns in play) for little ones or last-minute craft activities based on something an older child did the day before.

At Victoria’s childminding we mainly use the conservatory and the kitchen for our little ones, having it set up specifically for them with a comfy corner, accessible toys, sensory invitations, natural and wooden toys and resources and soft play equipment. Accessible books and song choices too. I plan a mixture of free play and exploration, child led play and structured activities/ set ups based on children’s interests. The outside area has many different opportunities for play. Including water play, a mud kitchen, digging zone, small world play, play house and a patio area for ride along toys.
Continuous observation and reflection on what is working and what isn’t allows me to adapt and
change different areas in order to suit the needs of the children.
Parent partnership is extremely important to ensure I am providing the best possible care for your child, I use tapestry as an online journal and I also offer a Whatsapp group with one or both parents for midday updates, photos, and quick communication.
