My Summary
About Me
Initially I trained as a nurse, after qualifying I worked within a maternity unit assisting mothers post delivery in the care of their babies, having new born baby experience. I then moved on to work within a Neo- natal unit caring for premature babies or babies born with difficulties needing initial assistance after birth, I enjoyed working within both of these areas.
I am also myself a mother of 4 children, with my husband, my children being 2 years apart each in age, I was fortunate to be a stop at home Mother for 12 years, able to focus on my family as we had each new addition, nurturing, developing skills through play, speech, fun, music, activities, books/ stories, indoors and outside love, support and care, , all of my children have gone on and done well in life.
when my youngest was old enough to start pre- school I applied to do a Classroom assistant qualification, starting to do at a local pre - school and my youngest child attended here with me. I gained skills in the age group of 3 years development, after 6 months of working here I moved on to complete my qualification within a Primary school local to where I lived.
I then worked within this school, within the Special Educational Needs Department as a 1- 1 classroom assistant with children with extra needs, such as autism, cerebral palsy, again an area of work I enjoyed,
All children from birth onwards are in a process of development and need assistance, support and care along the way.
finally my last position of work has been working within a family home, on a daily basis, 3 days per week, caring for a young gentleman with a Acquired Brain Injury, needing specific care, this involved getting along with his family who he lived with, having good communication skills with them as well as with my client.
I worked here for 6 years, a very rewarding position to work within, I gained many skills whilst working within this area.
In February 2024 I did an Adult and Paediatric First Aid course and Manuel Handling.
