About Me
My name is Catherine and I am 22. I have just relocated from Leeds, in Yorkshire, to North London and am excited to find a friendly, busy family to work with.
I am a musician, playing cornet, flugel, trumpet and singing as a classical soprano and I love to bring this passion into my work. In previous roles I have often used my musical skills to help children not only learn music themselves but also to help them emotionally regulate, explore their sensory abilities and work on developing their communication and physical development, as well as their early maths and literacy skills. I am super creative and love to be busy with children, inspiring their imaginations alongside developing the key skills.
I love nature and enjoy spending a lot of my time outdoors, walking, hiking and wild swimming.
My Experience
My last position was as an Early Years Practitioner in a nursery, looking after mainly babies and young children aged between 4 months and 4 years. The setting I worked at also has a before and after school provision, giving me an opportunity to work with primary aged children on occasion. I completed my Early Years Practitioner Level 2 qualification whilst working at this setting as an apprentice, receiving a distinction as my final grade. I was also presented with the Apprentice of the Year award at my company’s annual awards evening. During my two years there, I was key worker to multiple children and was able to use my knowledge of child development and positive behaviour management to support my children in their unique developmental journeys.
I have also been a regular babysitter to multiple families for the last 6 years looking after children aged between 4 months and 13 years. As well as volunteering for my local Toddler Group in Leeds
I have also previously worked for YMES (Yorkshire Music Education Service), co running a combined schools band, which brought together children from across 5 primary schools to make music together and learn how to play with others in an ensemble.
