My Summary
About Me
Hello and welcome to Little Acorns Childcare. I'm Shelley and I am a pre-registration Early Years childminder based in Hucknall, Nottingham. I share my home with my partner of 10 years David and my 23 year old daughter Morgan. As a family and a team we have worked hard to make our home a safe, warm and welcoming home from home for your precious little ones to learn through play, songs and adventures.
Little Acorns Childcare aims to help your little ones to reach their developmental milestones through adult and child lead activities, providing a rich and stimulating curriculum in line with the EYFS statutory framework. Introducing a new topic each month, building knowledge and friendships with the objective to help your little ones become confident to enter the next stage in their education.
We have a dedicated playroom filled with child sized furniture, loose parts play, paper and crayons for mark making, paints for messy play, play dough, reading corner, jigsaws and a role play area perfect to inspire your little ones imaginations.
Our spacious lounge/dining room is the perfect quiet place for group reading, dough disco and nap time or calming activities such as cosmic yoga, sing a long, nursery rhymes or short films from the Julia Donaldson collection for example.
Meals will be eaten in our dining room where we can all sit and eat together as an opportunity to develop personal and social skills and to offer guidance with cutlery and food.
I have my food and hygiene certificate so I am able to offer a healthy breakfast and lunch, along with 2 snacks and a choice of fruit, milk, fruit juice or water throughout the day. The choices will be displayed a week prior so parents/carers can supply their own food if they prefer.
We have a safe and convenient downstairs toilet where the children will have easy access to toilet and hand washing facilities and their own hand towels.
We have a fully secure, large garden that contains sandpits, water play, push toys, chalk board, playhouse, slide and a growing area for the children to grow flowers and seasonal fruit and vegetables that will be eaten with our snacks.
As often as possible, we will take your little ones on adventures big and small, we are lucky enough to be within walking distance to a lovely large park, local shops and cafes, a library and a role play centre. For bigger adventures we will take trips to farms, forests, museums and play centres to expand the children's ever growing personal, social and emotional development and the world around them.
We offer free of charge settling in sessions to help with the transition.
thank you or taking the time to read this, please feel free to contact me for further details. All parents are welcome to come and look around my home, garden and playroom.
