My Experience

From a young age I have always wanted to work with children. I began babysitting and child-minding for friends of family in my early teens, and later went on to work in my primary school's after-school club. My experience at Broomhill Infants After-School Club sparked my interest in education specifically. I coordinated playtime activities, ensured cleanliness and safety within the school environment, and supported individual needs. I formed strong bonds with students and witnessed firsthand the value of a consistent, nurturing rapport between teachers and pupils. My understanding of this deepened in Year 12 when I became a Peer Mentor, offering support to new Year 7 students, helping them to build confidence, both academically and emotionally. As a mentor, I selected books to be read, created writing and spelling tasks, and regularly checked in to encourage my mentee. I particularly enjoyed personalising tasks for each of my mentees in order to tailor to their unique needs, whether this be heightened focus on hand-writing, pronunciation of words, or even confidence tactics within the classroom. My degree in psychology only solidified my specific interest in child development. I studied modules such as developmental psychology, lifespan psychology, typical and atypical language development, social psychology and individual differences, and adolescent psychology.

My Qualifications

I have an upper-second class degree in Psychology from the University of Liverpool. 3 A-Levels in Spanish (A), Psychology (B) and English Literature (B), and 11 GCSEs grades 5-8.
