About Me
Hi, My name is Belicia.
I am a student in Leicester currently studying psychology and cognitive neuroscience
and I love working with children and young people.
I am really passionate about the importance of children being able to interact with the outside world such as being out in nature, learning or playing games instead of constantly being on technological devices. As part of my studies, we have learnt the detriment that too much screen time can have on childrens development but socially, it has also been highlighted that it is hard to monitor this when there are parents who work and provide for the household. Therefore as part of my role, I will seek to work with the children and interact with them through their daily routines and even plan small activities.
My Experience
I worked as a peer mentor throughout secondary school with children in my neighborhood, giving them advice and providing a safe space to outlet how they feel.
I also have experience working with young people and children with neurological difficulties such as dyslexia, ADHD and autism. I worked in a summer camp for the past 2 summers as a mentor and sports coach, supporting children with healthy ways to express themselves through communicating and teaching boxing skills to help as an outlet.
I have 2 younger siblings and lots of younger cousins so I have enough experience babysitting children from the age range of 3-11.
My Qualifications
Completed my GCSE/s with 7s, 8s and 9s
Completed my A levels with triple B (biology, chemistry and maths)
Currently an undergraduate students
