About Me
I am a writer, artist and gardener living between Gateshead and Newcastle.
I hold a degree in social anthropology from SOAS University of London and am currently training for a career in horticulture, whilst pursuing creative writing in my spare time. I am also a qualified yoga teacher and have taught in a freelance capacity.
I am a gentle, empathetic, and creative individual with a naturally maternal disposition. I love to spend time around children and young people, firmly believing that I can learn just as much from them as (I hope!) they can from me. I am very passionate about plants, arts, books, movement, and mindfulness, and love to bring these passions into the time I spend with little ones.
My Experience
I have experience in providing sole care to children under the age of twelve. My last post as a nanny was providing after-school care for two girls (ages 4 and 7) Monday - Friday in North London. I loved this job and remained with the family for two years during my time at university. I now provide regular sole care for my niece and nephew (ages 5 and 11). I have also worked previously with both young children and teenagers in a community arts capacity.
Whilst I have no formal experience caring for teenagers, I am really interested in gaining more experience within this demographic. Working recently alongside Oxfam to deliver an arts project at UK festivals this summer, I absolutely loved spending time with the teenagers who took part in the arts sessions, and came to realise that I have a very easy and natural affinity with teens. If you have a young teenager who you feel could benefit from some care and companionship from an empathetic, open-minded, and creative twenty-something, I believe I could be a great candidate for this.
