About Me

Hello,

I am currently working a very flexible job, and I can end work early/late in the day and start work early/late in the day to accommodate your needs. I can also take days off if needed and do compressed hours, everything is a discussion with the right family. I am trying to raise money to learn how to drive and to fund a Masters in Education. I work as a babysitter, cleaner and tutor and don't want to charge much because I believe support should be accessible to all families. Although I don't have many qualifications currently, I will be studying them over the next couple of months to enhance the quality of care I can give but I have a lot of experience at least! As an Irish-born Nigerian who has had a lot of exposure to different cultures, I can understand, empathise and support your children in a culturally sensitive way, as discussed and agreed in our initial meeting.

Please message me and we can have a discussion about your hopes and reservations and if I will be the best suited to support you and your family.

My Experience

Starting with babysitting, as a sister with 7 siblings, 3 nieces/nephews and many many cousins, I have a lot of experience taking care of children from a range of ages from one-month-old babies right up to teenagers. I also have over a year's experience working with children in voluntary settings such as in my church's youth group for over 2 years and working with Special Educational needs scouts. I have paid experience too - working in camps, which I will discuss in the next section, and as a teaching assistant in special educational needs schools for over a year.

In tutoring, I also have a lot of experience. I tutored my brother and supported him in getting a higher score in his maths and accounting A-Level than predicted. I also supported a girl from my youth group with her GCSE maths with an hour of weekly tutoring lessons. I worked as a camp leader in Germany where I designed and implemented lessons for English that covered 3 levels of English ability. I also work on curriculum as a School Governor so I am familiar with the UK's curriculum and school standards. I also work as a researcher right now so I am quite academic and logically minded.

I have also worked as a cleaner in Dublin before my degree in the UK in Psychology.

My Qualifications

I have my A Levels which I did in Ireland so I did 8 subjects with the following results:
Maths (A), Applied Maths (A*), Biology (A*), Politics and Society (B), French (B), English (A), Irish (A), Accounting (A).
I also did the Irish equivalent of GSCEs where I got an A in Maths again.
I have a DBS from this summer.
I have a degree in Psychology with various specialist modules such as Developmental Psychology, Learning and Developing Others, Educational Neuroscience and Parenting and Socialisation.

I was once first aid trained but I would need to attend a refresher course to allow me to be up to speed.

My Availability

I am quite flexible. The hours I probably can't do Monday to Friday is 10 am until 2 pm for core meetings I have and Sundays before 3 pm because I have church but after a discussion, we can figure out the timings and ways I can support that would be useful. I wouldn't want to work more than 12 hours a week unless there's an emergency or a planned need for me to look after your child during the weekend or early afternoon.

My Fees

  • Babysitting from £10.00 per hour
  • Tutoring from £15.00 per hour

As I said in my introduction, I need to get some qualifications and I want to be affordable so I am charging below minimum wage as a babysitter and below national average as a tutor. I won't increase my rates for babysitting when I get my qualifications.
