About Me
I am from the Wirral and grew up in an incredibly supportive and close community. Within this community, I was able to be part of an international youth group as a child- and then as an adult taking a leadership role in this organisation. With this, I worked with children of all ages, with many of them having learning difficulties- directing community musicals, hosting weekly groups, many camps throughout the year and much more. I have 4 younger brothers, all of whom are my best friends in the world. I have recently relocated to Newport, hoping to work within childcare while attending international conferences representing both the United Nations and the European Union- looking at topics such as democracy and emancipation and peace communication. My hobbies include drama, reading, cooking and hiking. I worked as an au pair for 2 months in Italy for two 2 year old twins and a 12 year old.
As a child, I would always find myself suddenly entertaining my younger brothers and their friends- creating new worlds from our imagination, taking time to make sure they all felt loved and comfortable. From this, I learnt about different learning techniques, with one of my brothers being autistic. As I got older, unlike the other high school students, I spent a large chunk of my time volunteering in primary schools and youth groups. I love watching children explore the world, and being able to support them in learning and creating. When working alongside children, I feel as though you are never able to feel sad- every day I end up feeling enriched.
My Experience
Babysitting- Due to my natural love for entertaining children, I am the first to be asked by both family and friends to look after their children. This has been over a night or up to 5 days of caring Nursery Worker- I worked as a preschool assistant with children from the ages of 1-5. This was from the hours of 7 am-6 pm. This included cooking three meals a day, cleaning and toilet duties Summer Camp Leader- I have worked on International camps with children from ages 3-17 years of age. I ran activities throughout the day, as well as cooking for large groups of children. I was the mental health support for my camp village, as well as the first aider. Volunteer work- for the past 6 years I have worked weekly with a children's group, working with all ages. This specifically aided me in working with children with autism, ADHD and down syndrome. Au Pair- I looked after 2 twin girls who were two years old, and their 12 year old brother. I would be the caregiver in their home from 7am until 8pm. I would cook for the children, take them on day trips, play interactive games, read and tidy the house.
