My Summary

My Experience

I have a master's degree in library science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the US, and I worked for nearly a decade (2014-2023) as a children's librarian, first in North Carolina and then in Maine. This job covered all ages and involved running programs from baby laptimes to toddler/preschool storytimes to after-school book clubs to teen programming, and loads more in-between. I also worked part-time as a nanny for the same family from 2011-2014 as a nanny to put myself through graduate school, starting when their eldest daughter was five months old (they eventually had a second baby girl!). I continued to babysit one day a week for that family even after I began working full-time in libraries, and we are still in touch and remain incredibly close - more like family than a job, truthfully. I also babysat at time for coworkers, friends, and library patrons!

My Qualifications

As mentioned, I literally have a graduate degree in a child-related field (as part of my degree I did courses focusing on child development!) and also did infant first aid training before I began nannying years ago.

My Availability

As stated, I work for myself publishing novels with Simon & Schuster in the US and Hachette here in the UK, so my schedule is flexible and I can generally work my own writing around your schedule. I do have a recurring volunteer commitment on Sundays (with the National Trust) that would make that day trickier, though I would still have some availability for occasional one-off jobs on Sundays.
