My Summary
Limited Spaces For September 2025 - Jem's Giggly Grove Childminding
About Me
Hi I'm Jemma, 31 year old ex police service personnel
I have been working with children for many years now from different work environments and decided now is the time to start my own journey. I am a mother for three children (current ages 11, 3 and 2) so I am well versed in caring for children of all ages, and needs.
We have recently moved into a new build 3 bedroom house with a large turfed garden, with plenty of toys and activities for indoors and outdoors. I like to rotate the toys and activities out every few of weeks to keep it different and I do seasonal activities with plenty of crafts. I am very house proud so the house is well kept and outside is maintained regularly. This is a my family home so will always be warm and safe for any child.
We do have a very friendly family dog and cat (he usually keeps himself to himself). Both are very good with children and adults alike. They both have monthly flee and worming treatments and are kept in tiptop shape. I feel that having animals in a family home is great for everyone! There are so many benefits to it and I hope to incorporate animal care during your child's day with me.
I am currently awaiting my OFSTED home inspection later this month. I am anticipating getting Jem's Giggly Grove Childminding up and running for September 2025 ready for the start of the new school year (limited spaces available: waiting list will apply if there is a large amount of interest).
My Experience
I am a mother of three pretty awesome kids (not just mum bias I swear), I have become well versed with their needs, variations of communication and general growth, and how to encourage them to strive and maximise their experiences.
I am a hard working individual and love getting mucky and silly with the kids. For the last 5 years I have worked within Kent Police and specialised in community engagement specifically aimed at young and adolescent children. This has given me so many opportunities to develop and enhance my skills and knowledge for safe guarding, children development/growth and what matters most when raising a child.
I find that when a child is happy, loved and nurtured they thrive, so this is where I aim to create a family feel whenever I am caring for your child/children.
I have worked within childcare previously, most recently 1.5years ago (before my youngest was born) whereby I was an after school nanny for a lovely family, this involved collecting their son from school, doing his dinner, light cleaning and ensuring he completes his homework before we played all while catering to his complex allergies and religion. I would also take him out on day trips with my family to bowling, cinema, play areas and we had a great time, references are available.
Before this I have worked with a disabled boy who needed extra support to eat, drink, bath, and dress. This family needed help to support their child when he wasn't in hospital. I learnt very quickly on the job what worked for him, how he communicated and what his needs were. I ended up working with this family most evening and weekends for a few years.
I am have recently completed a number of courses covering early years foundation, their needs, government changes and different ways to implement learning through play (all of which I can share with you upon request).
I have always had a passion for working with young children, doing my work experience in a nursery in Maidstone and over the years I have navigated my way to working closely with children. Whether that be the jobs I have highlighted above or being a party host in the hospitality industry, my aim is to make sure children have the best possible experience when in my care (reference from previous jobs available upon request).
Any children I look after will be treated like my own, and that's how I believe it should be. They aren't another number or job, they are the next generation.
I promote messy play, role play, stories and other interactive activities (some tailored to YOUR child's interests/child led activities).
I am fully DBS checked, I have full first aid and paediatric first aid trained, safe guarding trained, GP health declaration cleared, food safety trained and many more qualifications... all certificates are available upon request.
