About Me

My name is Merryn and I am looking for some support to look after and home educate my three children. I own my own business and am finding it increasingly difficult to work in an evening to support my business so I am looking for someone to help with the children so I can work in day light hours. We live on a farm which is growing slowly in it's animal population. We currently have ducks, hens, three cats and a dog. We'll hopefully be welcoming a few lambs in the spring and an Angora rabbit.
We have a child led approach to their education and, depending on days, the role of supporting them would include helping them with their morning baskets (their written work) which would be prepped for you and then engaging in play or taking them to their activities during the late morning and afternoon.
I know I'm biased but my three children are incredible. They have their bickers, but, on the whole, they support each other and have the closest sibling bond.
My eldest is 10, she is a lover of all things magic and mystery. Her favourite books are Harry Potter and currently, The Wingfeeather Saga. She is just coming into her tween years and it's starting to show in her interests. She is interested in acting and goes to acting school on a Saturday. She is also very into make up and created character roles with make up. She has two snakes, they are kept in her bedroom, so if you don't like them, that's the space to avoid. She's very respectful of other's feelings about snakes so rest assured, you'll receive compassion from her.
Our middle child is just about to turn 6, she is our critical thinker, she loves a brain challenge and you'll find her in the puzzle cupboard or creating intricate buildings with the blocks or magnet tiles. She also love imaginative play and if you join her in her imagination, you'll have a friend for life. She is a head strong, sassy, strong willed little girl and I love it! She inspires me daily!
Our youngest, he's 4, he's a bundle of energy and loves marvel characters and spends a lot of time in character, convincing his sisters that his games are the best. He is currently reading, with us, How to Train your Dragon and he's super interested in the vikings because of it. He is a loving little boy who is very sensitive. He needs lots of empathy and is working through some big feelings at the moment. He was born prematurely and had a poorly first few years in life. All is well physically now, in fact, today he was discharged from hospital as he's had a year free of admissions. However, I can see that he is emotional processing all of that.
We will ask for small household tasks like tidying up with the children, helping them with their chores and keeping on top of the washing up. Nothing beyond the basics.
