About Me
I've always been the one at family and friends' gatherings who ends up entertaining the children and pets, as it seems they're drawn to my calm, confident demeanour. I always treat them with kindness and respect, interacting with and listening to them, and observing their reactions, to get to know them and understand their needs and desires. I engage with them through play, and acting out various characters while reading to them, to help them feel connected and catalyse their development and growth. I love to share creative endeavours such as cooking, drawing and painting, reading and writing, and have found that origami often goes down fabulously!
My Experience
In an effort to re-align my career with my core values and ethos, I started offering child- and pet-care services as I moved away from working in tech in mid-2024.
I completed over 100 bookings (1-to-1, small & large groups) through Jan 2025, with children aged 11 months to 12 years, including SEN/D, receiving 100% positive ratings and great reviews, with ongoing repeat bookings with multiple families. I've handled school pick-ups, cooked meals, assisted with homework, guided creative coding in Scratch(Jr), engaged in both structured and freeform play and crafts, read *lots* of books, visited museums, galleries, parks and playgrounds, and conducted bath and bedtime routines.
I've also cared for cats, dogs, guinea pigs, fish, and plants, through drop-ins, sitting, boarding, and walking, as required.
My Qualifications
I'm a native English speaker with a strong grasp of its usage, and have intermediate comprehension of French alongside basic knowledge of a number of other languages, most notably Japanese and Italian. I'm also currently in the process of learning BSL.
I've completed several LinkedIn Learning courses on education and learner engagement, with a particular focus on tech, mathematics, and the sciences, these being the areas in which I have the most existing knowledge to share. Certificates gained in 2024 include: ‘Becoming a Teacher’, ‘Programming Foundations: Programming for Kids’, ‘How to Increase Learner Engagement’, ‘Blended Learning’, ‘Teaching with Technology’, ‘Illustrator 2024 Essential Training’.
I completed basic training in safeguarding, first aid, behavioural, and SEN/D while signing up to another childcare platform.
My Availability
I'm currently booked after-school every weekday, but am flexible and happy to take ad hoc or repeat bookings at any other times, and to keep in touch should you need after-school care, in case a slot becomes available.
