My Experience
I have been volunteering at S.H.I.P from the age of 14 in 2017. While volunteering I was paired up with a child with additional support needs, supporting them to engage with daily activities to encourage independence and socialisation. This was the main part of my time as a volunteer. Although when I was hired in 2020, I then took more of a senior role. By organising daily activities for my key group of children as well as being in charge of health needs and medication. I also supported the other workers and volunteers, making sure they understood their roles and could confidently work with their child. Since being hired 2020, I have been promoted 2 times, now being a senior role as Play Practitioner. This has provided me with leadership, communication and teamwork skills as I have led large group activities that support and are relevant to each child in my care, organised days out, and have communicated effectively to parents and carers.
My Qualifications
I am in my final year, about to graduate with a BA (Hons) Education Studies (Primary) degree.
